Took mine back to the dealer and was a known problem in July 2008. I would suggest you go to the Smart dealer and have them fix under warranty. If you car is over warranty tell them this was a known problem and they should have fixed when you…

me too.
Same story. I try locking and unlocking, pulling on the door latch from the inside and spraying a lot of WD 40 on the moving parts. It seems to happen more around changes in the weather.

I don't know anyone personally who has had this problem but I have seen it show up on the forums a couple of times.
Did you try hiting the unlock button and trying to close it again? Did you make sure the seat belt wasn't in the way? Sorry, not trying to insult your intelligence but both of these things have happenned to me.
Otherwise get hold of the dealer tomorrow and see what they suggest.

I do not know anyone with a smart sun screen at this point but you might do a search on the SCOA site if you are familiar with it as there has been some discussion there on sun screens. http://www.smartcarofamerica.com/forums/
