"Hi Lisa, I drove my Smart from Texas up to New Mexico and had no problem passing all those slow-pokes. It was a lot of fun passing one 18 wheeler after another, especially on those mountains. The speed limit is 75mph on I.H.40 and I did that most of…"

Randy Fuller replied to Randy Fuller's discussion Won't shift out of 1st gear under load
"The problem is, if I keep my foot on the gas it will over-rev the engine(over 6000rpms) which isn't good for the motor if done repetetly. The only solution to the problem that I've found is to paddle shift to 2nd manually then after the…"

Squirelly Raccoon

Posted on November 24, 2009 at 3:30pm 6 Comments

Headed up Hwy.287N. in Taxas at about 3:45am on Nov. 17th I ran across a raccoon that acted more like a squirrell. As I was coming up on a large shaddow that was crossing the road up ahead about 200 yards or so,I realized that it was indeed a raccoon and the largest one that I had ever seen in person other than on T.V. As I was slowing down to the posted speed limit of 35 mph and about 50ft. from him, the sharp projection angle of the headlamps startle'd him and he did a 180 and then darted… Continue

Hi Randy! It's great to have a local smartcar friend and it's really great to get to know someone who knows about cars! Thanks for adding me as a friend. I have yet to pass another smartcar owner on the streets, so maybe one day our little cars will pass each other :)

That's a good point. I paid for repairs when my wife accidentally sideswiped her friend's car when she was backing down our driveway. I paid for both repairs out of pocket to avoid the hefty insurance increase since the accident was our fault. It's a good thing she had here little mishap during tax season for we had a good return and used it all up getting the cars fixed.

Insurance is good for the big things that are not your fault. Otherwise...ouch!
