Hi Griz, you must be the Montana guy that I was told by Blair a while back got great mileage taking the car home. I am also 245 miles away from Lindon. I went there for the first time on Saturday. Got to ride a demo and look over the cars. I am (5) on the orphan list. I was hoping I would hear from Blair this week but it don't look hopeful. Glad to see that Smart of Lindon took care of you so well....Ron
Since my husband is totally opposed to any extended warranty stuff, we unfortunately did not buy it or the Roadside Assistance (There is a cost, right?). That is great service! I currently have an alarm that goes off every 30 minutes or so, unless I keep the car unlocked, which I don't like to do. I tried the shutoff button, but it does not seem to work. Smart did e mail me back and gave me some ideas, so I'll try those today. Mine came from smart Center Seattle.
I have been running mid grade fuel. Have not had any problems other than this onel. I have a volvo and I run mid grade in it also. My brother in law works for a local refinery and tells me the mid and premium are the same, just a marketing gig. He said economies of scale allow for them to make only one, so its all premium. They just market a midgrade to increase sales. I have not filled up yet, will probably sometime this week. It takes us a while to go through 8 gallons of gas.
Well, that's not very encouraging, is it?
Did the check engine light go off after you filled up? We went to Seattle to pick ours up. They offered that $2000 buy-in to allow warranty work to be done locally, but in Montana, that chunk of change can be big, so we opted out. We're trusting that we will not have to haul ours back for any reason, either! Has everyone been using strictly premium gas? I started out doing that, but sometimes fudge and go down one grade. My local mechanic says that most of the time, it's not going to matter that much. What do you all think?
My wife let me drive our smarty this past Tuesay. The check engine light came on. I called Smart of Lindon and talked to the mech on hand. He said to give it a full tank of gas, refill with premium, make sure gas cap is on tight and see what happens. I sure hope I dont have to trailer it to Denver or Salt Lake, it only has 1500 miles on it.
