thx jax, you do need a breaker bar because you can`t get a good grip unless you have a lift.I go 5k on a change.

I'd recommend using a six point 24mm socket and a long 'Breaker bar' wrench or a pipe over a regular wrench to prevent rounding off the bolt (12 point socket can slip off). I've helped two smart owners DIY the oil and filter…

If you check all the various maintenance schedules on the smart USA site there is zero (as in none) requirement to change the transmission oil.  Maybe after 120K miles, but that won't be an issue for most of us.

Just my 2 cents, dealers are the same character as politicians. They lie!!! I have an 08 with 40k, I change my own oil with Mobil 1 $ 8.00 @ qt. The filter is off the shelf at $ 4.00. I have not had the brake fluid changed or any brake work at all…

Since that Edmunds page also list "automatic transmission fluid" I'm not sure it's 100% reliable.  The dealerships set the price, not Edmunds or even M-B USA - unfortunately.  Lots of discussion on the brake fluid - the…

Found the smart under the snow...

Well I finally dug "Squirt" out from under the snow. The first major snowstorm she was tucked away in the garage. During the last snowstorm she got caught outside. I shoveled around her yesterday and started cleaning her off today. When I finally got the snow off the windshield I noticed the inspection sticker said January... just great. I had to go out so I took the Subaru. When I came out of the store someone had parked a yellow 2008 smart parked right in front of me. I just hate when Squirt… Continue

Sears Christmas Commercial

I just saw a Sears commercial on the tube. The elf arrives at the store in a red fortwo with a tiny trailer. Also, one of the sign magazines we get at Fastsigns had photos of recent wrap jobs. Two of the winners were fortwo's. I love our little one!

CSI New York

I'm sitting here watching CSI New York and the episode is taking place in Greece. In many scenes there are one or more smart fortwo's in the background. They all have two tail lights as opposed to three. It's great to see so many on a tv show.

Can we drive the shiny gray gokart???

Last night at a pot luck supper, the kids were riding a two seater gokart around the yard as we ate our supper. After about 30 minutes they rushed in and asked if they could drive the shiny gray gokart in the driveway!

She's dang cute and pretty, too! I like how different these cars look with only minor color changes. The grey/black is a particularly good color combo. Try to keep the little squirt from becoming a snow plow. My Brabus, lowered and with extended front valance, would be particularly prone to plow snow. I wouldn't want to scratch the front air dam plowing icey snow.
Keep her safe!

That Metallic Gray looks really nice on that little "Squirt". So where is Troutville, VA anyway? Is it known for some good fishing? Id be up for a good road trip to see that car on a saturday, of course id show off mine in return.

Oh so that's what configuring means in reference to the smart. The DDE estimated my delivery date at December 2009, do you think that it will be that long? Do they call you when you configure and then you give all the specifications about your car? Thanks for helping me out!

Hi! Thank you for the welcoming comment. Frescita is scheduled to arrive between December 2009 and February 2010! :( I reserved mine when there was an 18 month wait!! How long did it take you to get yours? Oh and can you explain to me what configuring means?

Thank you!

Hi Richard.
You right, I have the black interior too. I vacum my car almost on a daily basis. I never took such a good care of my previous cars as I do this one.

I like your gray Smart. I configured mine about a week ago and also chose gray. What color of interior did you choose? I hope to get mine spring/summer 09; can hardly wait any longer.

Congrats!

Melissa, I really hope the gray looks good. When I configured it looked dark like the pic on my profile but I have also seen a lighter version on the smart site. If it's too light I will just have to paint it to my taste! I reserved earls in March and my dde runs from October to December. I can't wait to blow past some toyota Prieus (Spelling probably not right!) I'm a Canon 40D guy myself. Thanks, Richard
