"Closing in Nashville at the end of the month. I gather the wealthy fellow who had exclusive distributorship here from Mercedes defaulted it back to the manufacturer and they decided to close. Still, it make options a bit sparse for service and…"

"It could be a company policy.  I know of some dealerships that are required to have a smart in the mb showroom.  I would not worry about it.  As for only having one car in stock, the dealer can make a call and have a car sent from the…"

St. Louis Dealership Has Used MB Cars In smart Showroom

A week or two ago I went to my local (St. Louis) smart dealership at Plaza Motors.  It's a very nice dealership that sells some of the most awesome vehicles money can buy.  That includes smarts.  I've visited the place many times and they have a nice showroom in the back of one their building to sell smarts.  This last time I saw I visited I saw only one smart in the showroom and sitting there with it were two used Mercedes Benz vehicles sitting there as well.  The dealership sells just about…See More

2011 smart

Posted on November 24, 2010 at 2:34pm 6 Comments

I just stumbled over the smartUSA sight yesterday and I saw the new slightly redesigned 2011 smart. I think the newly redesigned interior keeps its family resemblance but the upgrade looks great and are "smart"ly thought through. They are going to offer a good looking radio with navigation built in ambient lighting. On the outside they have added daytime running lamps (LED) and it has a nice sophisticated look something akin to the Audi. Overall I think the upgrades look great and I look… Continue

Could it be that a reviewer actually "gets it"?

I found this article noted in the forums of Smart Car of America. The article is in a magazine named Winding Road. The interface to the magazine isn't very easy to work but when you go to the website in the upper middle section named Featured there is an article called "HONDA FIT VS. SMART FORTWO" click on that to go to the article. When ready to turn the page use the blue arrows at the very top of the page to navigate. If you see an advertisement just click the arrow again to go to the… Continue

A Difficult Decision

Posted on October 30, 2008 at 11:53am 11 Comments

I have driven the orphan at the dealership and it's a nice car. I have until the end of the day Friday to make a decision to purchase the car or wait until February for the one I configured. The 2008 has more options on it than the 2009, but I may still turn it down in favor of the 2009.

Aside from the obvious of "Now or Later" dilema, I am also battling with a decision of how to buy it. I already have a 2008 Prius that I am currently paying for. I don't want to make two car payments… Continue

An orphan came in like my original configuration

Posted on October 29, 2008 at 12:01pm 3 Comments

I received a call yesterday that an orphan showed up Yellow/Black Cabriolet with Black Leather comfort package just like the one I originally entered when I joined the reservation program. The only difference from the original is that the dealer added a racing stripe (added a few hundred dollars to the price). I will be looking at the car today with my wife to see if i will buy it.

A couple weeks ago I officially configured my 2009 smart. I ordered (since yellow has been… Continue

Road accidents with the smarts

Posted on October 21, 2008 at 11:35am 0 Comments

I have been reading blogs and forums and I have discovered that there have already been some members that have had accidents while driving their smarts. It would be interesting to hear these stories: how the accident happened; the other car that was involved; the damage to each; and any injuries. Thus far I've only read of a couple collisions and the smart performed as designed and took the worst upon itself and the passengers at worst received a few bruises. I think this is a testament to the… Continue

Answer to your question, yes I have insurance but my deductible is $500.00. The parts are just over that a little so I don't want to hassle with the insurance company just for a few dollars and then have them go up on my rates. That would add up to more than what I will spend in the long run if you know what I mean. I was in the body-shop business for over 20yrs. and had my share of stories with some of my customers regarding this same senerio. It seems like a claim always comes back to bite you in the butt,so unless it's more than a $1000.00 it's best to anny up the dough and keep the insurance company out of it altogether. It'll save you in the end,If you know what I mean!

I really enjoyed your analysis of "facts" regarding other Robs unfortunate disdain of his choices and resulting feelings about his smart. Congratulations on your own smart decisions. Loved your contribution! Thank you!

i agree it's funny when you see some of these people claiming these outlandish mpg claims.. it's like they are trying to validate why they bought this car. hey but whatever bottom line the car is a pizza and i love driving it
