I can only guess that German cars are using fully ceramic brake pads. They supposedly last longer but cause this brake dust phenomenon.

Not just Mercedes, lots of German cars do this. I'm wondering if you can switch to a semi-metallic brake pad to lower this problem from happening so often? I've seen BMW and VW have this same issues when I see them in traffic.

Nope. I'm going to either give the Fiat 500 a try or the Ford Fiesta next. If not those, then maybe just a base Hyundai Accent or Toyota Yaris to get from A to B. As for now I am just getting by with my new Honda hybrid.

Not far from Fort Lauderdale. The financing didn't go through on my car so I had to give it back. I bought the filter and was going to do my own oil change. Guess I got ahead of myself.

I have a smart oil filter sitting here on my desk that I no longer need. I paid $16 for it with the brass washer from the dealer. I no longer have my smart car so this thing is useless for me.

Supposedly BOT328 is not available retail. That is only used as a factory fill. From what I read, elsewhere, supposedly we need a GL-4 gear lube. Yeah, 30,000 miles does sound early for a manual transmission. Like I said about the Honda, they…

About Me
I bought my smart in May, but after putting 1,000 miles on it, the dealer called me back and the financing fell through, so they took the car back. It's been a very bad time for all of us. Now I have no car and the car I took from the dealer had to be returned and is now put back on their lot as a "used" car. All parties involved are very upset with what the banks did.
