the handling is still acceptable if you drive it normally .. but if you like to race and such id get a rear width for the front.. i priced the cost of 2 rears from the dealer .. and they where more than buying a set of 4 aftermarket rims .. i think smartmaddness.com has some nice ace decorsa rims that that are in the 500 range for a set of 4 .. the dealer wanted 300 each for 2 rear stocks

oh yeah you can squeeze the rear 175 15 on the front rims .. has a nice soft ride .. altho its a bit squishy on high speed turns

I have had so much fun driving my smart. It didn't arrive at the dealer's until a week after you'd gotten yours. I just knew it was delayed by the snow that fell that week. I've got about 500 miles on it (two weeks). The holidays got in my way. I'm driving it easy. We got the upgraded sound system, and we're loving it.

Today (the 20th) I got the call. I had Christmas Parties so I couldn't just run over to get it, and they're closed on Sundays. So, Monday morning at 11 a.m. I'll be picking it up. I've been so worried because it hadn't arrived, and I just knew it was on the same boat as yours was. Now I can relax!

I'd read your "list", and I thought it was wonderful. I'm still waiting, but I (and 8 others) did get an e-mail stating our cars would be in within two weeks. I can't imagine it not being in this week. Good grief! Just how far is it from Long Beach? We have two inches of snow! And my smart is missing it!

Craig: I did my own financing and got a much better deal. Almost 2.5 points lower than Smart and about 1 point lower than the Mercedes financing. The dealers will negotiate interest rates, don't be afraid to ask. Yeah I got rid of my Goldwing out here. Seems everyday on the news another car/bike crash.

Thanks Jim. Mine's been changing so much I don't think anything would surprise me at this point. Do they give you right up to the day of pickup to work out the financing or does it have to be in place a head of time?
Usually I do check the mirrors when stopping at a light but this was total stop and go traffic and after I merged over I waved at the car behind me (not the one that hit me) pulled up and stopped in the line of cars and then before I looked up again Wham!! Really the reason I sold my bike after moving here because I felt that no matter how careful I was the risk was too great. Of course I do get goosebumps every time I hear a bike run through the gears :)
have a good evening, Craig.

Will have to give Argentina a try some time. I will come back to DC when it is warm in the spring. Too cold for me now since I've lived in Texas for 5 years and Arizona for a year. I will have to see what I can find out about TOWN.

Everywhere I asked about the tour told me no single person tours-only groups-six months advance notice. On the canadian website a guy told about just dropping by the factory unannounced and being treated very nicely. I had a day to kill while my wife was working at Ramstien so I just drove over to see what I could see. It was a cold day in Jan. and not much was happening there. Sabine works in the PR dept. and talked to me about smarts coming to the USA. She asked if I would like to walk thru the factory. I said "YES". She took me on a tour that lasted about 3 hrs. She explained she had a club from England visiting and wanted to refresh her english. It was so cool! I returned in May to visit and brought a bottle of Texas wine and she showed me a few new things at smartville. If I could have stayed on a couple of more days, she said I could attend the one millionth smart ceremony. Oh well, had a great time anyway. So, it is hit or miss to visit by yourself. But If you find a group going you can tag along.Check Brit club websights. Worth the effort even if you dont get a tour. Lots of displays. Also be sure to visit the dealership in Saarbrucken ( 20 min. away) for great buys on accesories.
