"Try un-plugging the Temp Sensor with the white wire, and re-plugging it back in... If that don't do it, the dealer will replace it... You do see it on the side... "

air conditioning woes

I've seen previous discussions on this, and am curious if there are udpates/new suggestions. My airconditioner only cools at the very coldest setting. Anything above that and the cold turns to warm, and if I put it at the 70 degree mark I get plain old hot air. I'm getting ready to schedule a service appointment, but wanted to know first if any new repair ideas are out there. Thanks.

"True enough. But how many times have you seen a Prius hauling 4 or 5 people? Mostly they haul the same number as a Smart: one person. There's nothing wrong with a Prius, of course, and if more and more people drove them, and Smarts, we'd…"

"No flapping noise, just some road noise when traffic is on that side. When you ride a motorcycle as I do you tend not to notice such things."

"I love my smart cabriolet except for the "flapping" noise on the right rear passenger side at highway speeds. Do you experience this at all? Read my blog about this problem."

Livin the Smart life

The more I drive our cabriolet Smart (purchased Oct 09), the more I like it. Our Smart is our only car. We are empty nesters, and the Smart's size is just right for my wife and I. When our son visits, or relatives visit, we rent a sedan for a few days. If we need to haul something, say garden supplies, we rent a pickup truck for the day. But let me tell you, the Smart is plenty big for the two of us, and it drives nicely, and the fuel economy is great. And, with a cabriolet and living in East… Continue

Ice and Snow

Posted on January 8, 2010 at 5:02pm 3 Comments

My neighborhood in Knoxville (TN) got hit with a bit of snow, but worse was the sheet of ice under it. On the main road in the subdivision this morning, which is curvy and hilly, I saw two cars that had run off the road, and a half a dozen cars (vans, BMWs, a Jaguar) were abandoned. This was my first winter drive in the smart cabriolet. I put it in manual, went slowly, and made it out of the subdivision--one of the few to do so, I think.

gas gauge issue

Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, can you suggest a cure?

Sometimes when I fill up my smartcar the gas gauge only rises to the 3/4 full point. I know from the number of gallons that I filled the tank (and no, I don't top off). On top of that, sometimes the next morning the gauge will jump to full.
