My favorite things about smart
it's so different!! and so small. and affordable!
About Me
single, like to travel. work and live in ABQ NM, and plan to stay here.
It would be awesome to find some new friends with something in common - our cars!
My smart's name
SunnyD (first car) My Brabus' name is Lil' Panther
Latest update: Bought the Brabus that Mr Garcia ordered for himself. Put an air scoop on the side. After being crashed into twice, I gave up on Sunny D and bought the Brabus. I named her Lil' Panther. The Brabus is faster (yikes!)and the black color is sleeker. Also gets more respect from other drivers. I'm looking forward to putting in the updated transmission. Faster! Faster!

smart accident

Well, it finally happened to me - I was rear-ended Jul 28. I ended up with whiplash, as the person hit me full force, probably going 50-60 on the highway.

My head was whipped forward, then slammed back into the seat. The impact was so strong that the when I slammed back, the seat back actually popped back a few notches. Everything in the cubby holes flew out. I had an instant headache.

Fortunately, i was held in place by the seatbelt and the airbag didn't deploy.

Gary, the smart… Continue

Is anyone else tired of the Smart car being ignored and treated like a red-headed stepchild? Was just checking out "most fuel-efficient cars" on Vehix.com, and there's not a word about the Smart, yet there are questions on the blogs about the Smart car.

The Smart car is so radically different, I feel most of the US wishes it would just go away because it's not a luxury item.

There are so many good things about the smart, yet what you hear is all the bad. There are… Continue

Wow. I haven't been on the site for quite a while.

I still have a little thrill when I look at and get into SunnyD and drive. I still get into a lot of conversations wherever I go, too. Love it. Never get tired of it.

I'm sure I've surprised a lot of highway drivers by how fast and maneuverable the smart is. I'm also seeing more and more smarts in ABQ. As a matter of fact, a smart owner lives just three houses down from me, which is surprising. I try to wave or honk at all… Continue

Anyone have this issue?

While driving, it seems every single other driver wants to pass the car (maybe they're thinking it can't keep up with the speed limit), even though I'm driving at or over the speed limit??
I'm teaching myself to drive the speed limit and stay in the right lane, esp on highway, but I'm thinking if I drive 80 or 90, someone would STILL try to pass my car!

Question:

At the smart dealer last Friday, I had the cargo net installed (kind of expensive for such a small piece of stretchy string, don'tcha think?), and they asked me if I wanted to have my sunshade replaced, because it was one of the "bad" ones. So after it was installed, it seemed to me that there was less sun coming in and the car wasn't quite as hot. -Anyone else notice that, or am I going crazy?
