JBL's Redesigned C453 Audio System

JBL's designers and engineers have worked closely with smart to create a fantastic upgraded speaker system for the 2016 smart fortwo. This customized audio set optimizes sound within the car's compact interior through a six-channel DSP high-performance amplifier and eight speakers (including a sub woofer located in the trunk that can be removed for extra cargo space). Throw in the cross connect app's music selections and you're bound to rock the road. http://smart.cr/1QAYKxCSee More

C453: Now With Dual-Clutch Transmission

In case you missed it: The all-new 2016 smart fortwo is getting a major transmission makeover. Owners will now have a choice between a five-speed manual transmission or a six-speed dual clutch twinamic transmission. Car Scoop caught on to the update and noted that twinamic transmission will give drivers the ability to go from 0 to 62 mph in only 15.1 seconds and reach a top speed of 93 mph! Buckle up — things are really taking off around here. http://smart.cr/1DkD8v4See More

Jalopnik Loves The C453!

Jalopnik has been laying down the smart love big time ever since our C453 premiere at the New York Auto Show. First, the blog wrote up a fantastic feature on our dashboard phone dock, calling it "the best smart phone integration of any car." We'd be blushing furiously if we didn't already know it was true. Then, later in the week, they posted a stellar review of the C453 itself. It seems it made quite the impression on the author: "I am absolutely blown away by this little thing. I never thought I’d like a smart, but everything about this car appealed to me." With a new generation of smart comes the chance to reach a fresh audience who might never have considered us before. We welcome that chance! …See More

C453's cross connect app

Posted on April 1, 2015 at 4:00pm 0 Comments

Hello Insiders!

We are weeks away from the premier of the C453 at the New York Auto Show. This new generation of smart has so many features worth bragging about. One that we are especially excited for is the cross connect app. The cross connect app turns a driver's smart phone into a dynamic information and multimedia system. In contrast to the smart drive 2 app, cross connect includes a guidebook, car info and the ability to control your in-car radio.

Car Info provides users…

The Scoop - Further C453 Updates

Posted on January 27, 2015 at 6:00pm 0 Comments

Hello Insiders!

It's been a while since we've updated you on a few key product launches. The most anticipated one is undoubtedly the C453. Originally, we reported that the C453 would be making its US debut in January at the Detroit Auto Show. Since then, the premiere has shifted to the New York Auto Show in April. We're excited to bring the newest generation of our vehicle to New York coinciding with this week's retail launch of the 453 in Europe.…

Automatic Windshield Wipers Settings

Posted on December 10, 2014 at 12:30pm 0 Comments

Winter weather is upon us, and with it comes the chance to put your smart's automatic windshield wipers to work! We learned via Reddit that some of you were asking about the right way to adjust rain-light sensor-controlled wiper settings. For 2014 smarts that have a rain-light sensor, the feature is activated when the wiper settings are set to "intermittent wiping" or…

Let me second Robert's comment.  Not sure what happened but smart USA appears to be totally disconnected from the smart owner community. Yes, there's Farcebook (pun intended) but that's pretty much generic comments without much substance.  Bring back the un-group in anticipation of the 2015 intro of the next generation smarts!

I have a comment about seeing the un-group revitalized here. Eric Angeloro did a fantastic job of organizing the un-group and without his input the group has struggled on Google Hangout. It has now become apparent that the group can no longer continue without the input from smartUSA. There is still a lot of passion and enthusiasm amongst smart owners and to have the involvement of smartUSA to communicate with a group of committed owners seems like a plus for promoting the brand. Hopefully, Eric or someone else in corporate will take up the challenge to bring the un-group back to life and instill a continued enthusiasm for the brand, amongst it's owners.

Funny, funny, Charlotte!  Before we got our little Munchkin, Ann and I lived on the Bolivar Peninsula, a ferry ride from Galveston, Texas, until we were moved away by hurricane Ike.  Cars going onto the ferry had a TSA-like inspection before boarding.  "Pop the hood, pop the trunk and pop the glove box."  We may drive all the way back down there just to have an experience like yours.  We are all primed to respond, "Sorry, we don't have the first two, but we can open the glove box for you."

On the other hand, the third member of the inspection team used a long-handled mirror to inspect the bottom of cars.  I guess it would not be so funny if we were instructed to remove Munchkin's under tray.  :)

Hello sUSAi:

Yes, I am interested in sharing my photos as well as my little story.  I can't tell you how much attention my SmartCar got.  It was especially funny when the security detail searching vehicles and their contents asked me to "Pop the trunk."  After the look on my face, they just laughed.  You certainly can fit a lot of stuff in this car!  How do I get to you my photos?  Charlotte Rios
