If you want a 2010 smart, see if you can make another reservation now, and drive your 2008 until then, then you can probably still sell your 2008 for the price you pay for it

That's good to hear. I just got mine last Friday, and I know how that feeling was when my dealership called. You have to go for a test drive it is so much fun. You will be laughing almost the whole time. When it gets here post some pics.
