Marvin Shavers The Wave

I went to St. John's Town Center the other day and as I was turning, I came across another Smart owner. I was so happy to see another one and even happier when they waved. It felt good and I wanted so bad to turn around and talk to them. Many times, in this city, the cars that pass by on the road are so far away that if they are waving, you can't see it. Whoever you were, I would love to have you join the club I am about to start for the Jacksonville area. This club is going to be a lot more act… Continue

Hey Robin850, I have the platform on my Smartie. Works great. I put one of those big white fishing coolers on it to pack stuff in when I drove to Nationals from Denver. The coolers fit perfectly! Depending upon how much weight you add though you have to adjust breaking and accelerating distances. Haven't had problems going cross-country in the mid-west, but the weight does hamper speed in the mountains. Continue

For those wanting "extras" for their Smartie, contact SmartMaddness.com They have everything from the bumperstickers you wanted to Smartbrellas (I got one and it's great) to glare reducers (goes between rear-view mirror and sun-visors) cruise controls, anything you can imagine. I've unfortunately for my bank account, spent a small fortune with them and they are wonderful to work with. They have several hundred after market items for the Smart Cars. SmartMaddness is located in Southern Califor

Connie and Tim Fellows smartbrella's working great!

I recently purchased a "smartbrella'. Basically, it's a car cover that just covers the top of the car. Since I don't park my cabrio in the garage, I was worried that my top might deteriorate faster than if it was protected. And, at work, we don't have a parking garage so my car is exposed to the Texas hot sun all day. The Smartbrella has really helped. It doesn't take long at all to put on and it really helps keep the interior of my car a lot cooler than just my sunscreen shade. I really like it… Continue

Marvin Shavers Road Trip

I decided to take my smart car to Mississippi last week. It was going to be an almost 600 mile trip one way. My sweet Salma was only a week old at the time and I had no idea what I was getting myself into, but I sure did look forward to it. The first challenge was figuring out what we were going to be able to bring for one week. So, after making sure that the two golf bags were in the car, the carryon luggage filled to the top with clothes and two laptops, the two camera bags and the cowboy boot… Continue

Jim Killian Front Wheels

I have heard about replacing the front tires and wheels with the larger sized rear wheels. This is supposed to improve the ride dramatically. Has any one had any experience with this change? Did you find the rear wheels new or used? Continue

Fran Butzberger Towing Smart

Hi I recently had an inquiry about towing the Smart Car. We tow ours behind our Winnebago Via (26 ft motorhome) If you follow the instructions in the revised Smart Car manual, it is so easy. Make sure you go to a dealer that is familiar with Smart Cars for the installation. We have a Blue Ox towing system with the Patriot braking system. To be legal in all states and Canada, you DO have to have a breaking system. If you are ever in an accident, even if it was not your fault, you will be charged… Continue

Spots IN the windshield :-(

My "09" has spots..white...IN the windshield. I guess it is IN the lamination!

The dealer never saw this before. So I took photos and gave them to the shop Foreman. He will deal with this. While at the Oxnard dealership, I went and looked the first four smart cars on the lot. The first four out of 15 smart cars have the same spots IN the windshield. I did not go past the first 4 cars as they were being w
