Well, got a call yesterday.. and... I have some good news and bad news...
Looks like Im not getting the car on the 31st after all. There was some confusion and my date changed.
I pick it up this weekend! Sat, Jan 24th! 10am!
I feel like a piece of popcorn ready to explode!
This is not helping me concentrate at… Continue

Can you believe that "Auto on/off" headlights is NOT a feature of the new Brabus? Evidently, according to Smart, it's not even an option. Even my Smart Passion has it. Are we going backwards? If I accept my new Brabus, I'll have to be sure to carry my jumper cables. No Cruise Control is bad enough-and now this!

In the time I've had my smart, I've seen a couple of them around. Yesterday, I saw 3 in less than an hour, aside from my own! As I parked at the Falls Church Home Depot, another smart owner pulled up beside me, on his way out, just to say hi and chat about our smarts. He had a blue/silver. On my way home from Home Depot, a different blue/silver one came up on my left. Then I saw a white/silver one parked. Hi to everybody, if you're on this site!

I am a owner since 11-30-2008 and this week got a blue ox base plate put on to tow behind my Lexington.
Any one using a smartcar as their toad and if yes are there any things I should be aware of besides putting in nuetral and turning the key to the first ig point?
Any pitch probelems or other things I should know?

Call me a "weenie" but I don't like how Limoncello handled in the Chgo snow these past weeks. Went on line but all I can find are the Pierillo (?) snowtires. Hoping to find some Blizzack tires in her size, but nada. Does anyone else have snowtires?

We just configured our Smart Car this weekend. I've a couple of questions. Noticed on the info that Premium Gas is required. Is this really necessary? Also, what kind of actual gas mileage do some of you really get?
Thanks for responding.

Thank you for responding. I know the question about mileage has already been asked many times, but I'm new to this site. I do appreciate you taking the time to respond. I

We picked up our new Rally Red Cabrio this morning. Our wait was twelve days short of one full year. Was it worth the wait? So far, the answer is yes! Best of all it fits (just barely) in our garage with it's three buddies and the John Deere.

I got home about 45 minutes ago in my new Smart Cabriolet!!!! My delivery date was tentatively February 14, but my dealer, Cherie, at Smart Center, Cary, NC, called this morning and said that they had just received an orphan that was configured just like mine with the addition of foglamps and the alarm. I went out to check it out and to try to work out a trade on my Smart orphan that I bought in late August to "tide me over" until mine came in.
Well, I arrived at the Smart Center… Continue

My DDE changed this morning! It shot forward a week but Im sure that dosnt mean much more than a status change. I got a call from Round Rock saying my car has touched U.S. soil... and is turning around because its scared! Just kidding. But it is in customs, thats for sure. If smartHHO's (on SCOA) experience has taught me anything, it is that customs is not the week that it used to be. But I figure two more weeks and Ill bring my little R2… Continue

In August I was told by the Smart dealership in Winston-Salem, NC that you had to buy your new SMART in your own sales district. The only way he could sell me a Smart was because he had a Used orphan on the lot.
It seems now that many Smart dealerships are getting cars on their lots for sale so that people don't have to wait anymore. I'm surprised by the people who drove 2 1/2 hours to get a Smart -- which seemed to be outside of their sales area.
Can anyone give any… Continue

I would like to share my experience with everyone about the Smart center in Clearwater Florida. We recently placed a reservation via smartusa.com for a Passion coupe but after discovering that my DDE would be in 2010 we decided to look at different Smart dealerships. We dealt with a central florida smart dealership at first, but they had no models with the options we were interested in. So we then decided to start calling around Florida looking for an orphan. We called different Smart… Continue

Last Friday, I stopped to buy beer for the weekend. Upon walking out of the store i discovered a gay man hugging and kissing my car. He said, "I love your Smart Car." I want one so bad. He asked his friend to take a picture of him with my car. His friend, after a few minutes, got him to peel himself from my car. Sounds like a fib, but it's 100% true.

My smart interior is black, and my laptop case is black.
So, my first mod was to add a light to the roof of the hatch area
so that I can find my laptop case in the dark. I found mine at

Well, my wife and I were approved through our credit union! YEA!!!! We are still going to see if the financing at Smart can get us a better deal, but the car is ours either way. The credit union said that the credit history and time on employment hurt, but they could do 80%. We are putting about 20% down so it worked out great! Keep us in your prayers that everything still goes through!

Following up on my previous post (below), the dealer called today to confirm that it was a year since the car was built--and yes, the date in the door is 12/07. Since I have nearly 9000 miles on it, he suggested we go ahead and schedule the one-year maintenance to replace fluids, filters and oil. So I'll go in on Wednesday (weather permitting) -- and, my little blackie really needs a car wash, so I'm glad to go and let them do that as well!
Hmmm...two days ago a… Continue

Well, the first meet and greet for 2009 has been completed! We had 11 Smarts show up with a total of about 19 people for a nice viewing of our cars and lunch at Chuy's. For those of you that do not know Chuy's, it is a local Tex-Mex restaurant that serves up hot salsa and a creamy jalapeno dip that is one of my favorites. (If you are really health conscientious, try the Elvis chicken fried chicken. A chicken breast battered in potato chips and deep fried! Mmmm!)
We are a motley crew… Continue
