I was in my smarty gofer the first time heading north on Terwilliger Rd the second time was in by the Anza Valley Auto Gas Pumps cleaning the windshield of smarty gofer. Not too bad for one day. Two smarts on the road.

C453 Dealer Ordering Guide Preview - Safety

smart has never skimped on safety standards and our C453 is no exception. In this final installment of our dealer ordering guide walk-through, we'll take a look at what makes the C453 one of the safest smarts to date.

Of course, we have to start with our tridion safety cell. Thanks to a higher proportion of ultra-high strength, hot-formed steels and maximum-strength, multiphase steel, our tridion is the strongest its ever been. As a compliment to the C453's external ridgity, doors are…

Accidents Happen

A few weeks ago, I was involved in an accident at 45 mph. I didn't intend to test the safety features of my Smart Car, but the accident proved without a doubt that this truly is one of the safest cars on the road. Though I sustained bruises and contusion, I did not have any serious injuries. The car had some damage, but most of it was replacing the air bag. The auto body shops couldn't believe how well it took the impact and was still easy to drive. They said that repair would not be…

A Day at the Beach

My daughter and I drove to Hermosa Beach on Sunday.  68 miles round trip according to Google Maps.  There are 4 free charging stations at Hermosa but we wanted to try the trip without recharging.  We drove across town which meant surface streets except for maybe 8 miles on the LA freeways.  When we got home…

No range anxiety but questions about charging

I have been enjoying my ED for 2 months, averaging 26 miles/day which is just about what my 10,000 miles/year lease will allow.  At that rate I don't even have to recharge every night and Pasadena (CA) has plenty of charging stations, many of them free, so I can't imagine getting caught with a low battery.  I would like to learn more about best practices for recharging beyond the little that is available in the Smart car manual and the website FAQs.

Following the advice of a friend…
