I just heard about this program, the first in the U.S. and the second one in existance (Ulm Germany was the 1st). I got these pictures while at RRsmart today. Sounds like a pretty cool program.
According to earth2tech.com
Daimler will have car-sharing program in Austin, Texas. Daimler will roll out its “mobility concept,” car2go, in Austin this fall following the expansion of a pilot program in Ulm Germany.
Austin will have 200 Smart Fortwo cars… Continue

I need to find a print guality black out line,of the car to send to a printer. I am trying to have some cards printed. All of the printers say they need a print quality photo for the art work. I have been told all down loads off the internet will not work. Don't know anything about printing ,just want to give my printer what he needs to print my cards.Do not wan't to use a color photo as the cost for color is just too high.
On the main page of this web site ,I see many outline type… Continue

I tackled 3 mods this afternoon and they took the better part of the whole afternoon.
1. 12V power outlet in boot area
2. LED lights to provide light in the boot area
3. Boot release button on button bank.
This info is intended as a supplement to the detailed instructions that are readily available at Evolutions. I will place photos at the end of this post so you can see what I saw.
The first two were ever straight forward utilizing the instruction… Continue

That's right Central Texas smart Club had our first SONIC SATURDAY Meet-n-Greet!
SONIC SATURDAY is where we pick a different SONIC location around the central Texas area, or even a few of them. Then between 2 - 4pm, if you live in that area, and want to show up and chat with ANY smarties that show, you can. We'll keep you posted on locations.

Anybody have a nav system installed. Did you get the dealer to do it? Did you do it yourself. Which model is the best one? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hello all! My husband and I just returned from a 5 night stay in London, England. We saw so many Smart cars there. On the way to Heathrow Airport this morning from our hotel located just behind Buckingham Palace, I counted 14 Smart cars on the road!!!! So glad they've made it to the States. Also saw a car even smaller than a Smart. It's called a (and I'm not making this up) Gee Whiz -- it's electric and narrower than a Smart. Must be awful crowded when two people are riding!!

I am coming up on the two month anniversary of driving my smart car. Should celebrate the occasion, like a junior high school romance.
What seems strange to my Friends That Drive BIG Cars
(FTDBC) is that, I have to say, that this is one of the best cars I have ever owned. Come on, are you kidding? Nope.
Most of us have (or have owned) other cars. It's funny reading the forums. We have them and we feel a little guilty insuring, but not driving them. Know what I… Continue

Ok, so if you've ever owned a nondescript tan sedan, chances are you've walked up to the wrong car in the parking lot, thinking it's yours. So last night, when we walked out into the grocery store parking lot, and walked up to the wrong blue & silver Smart, I was HYSTERICAL!! Talk about something I NEVER thought would happen!
What made it even funnier, was that we had passed the same Smart 15 minutes before, and even stopped to exchange pleasantries with the driver. He headed off in… Continue

My smart got "re-decorated" by a Lady in a (brand-new, no less) BMW 3-series last night on the way home, so the best I am hoping for now, is that it can and will be fixed soon.
It dented the driver side tridion pretty good. At least I am fine and here to b*tch about it ... When the sign says "no-double-turn" how would you interpret that? ... am I bitter? ... you bet.
I would like anybody's suggestions though on what to look out for when it comes to repairs of the smart and… Continue

I picked up Lil' Smartie on Saturday March 21. I drove her home from Indianapolis, Indiana on interstate 65. Didn't have any problem at all being out there with the big guys (semi's). Didn't have any problems going the 70 speed limit. I am having so much fun with it!! I'm still learning where all the buttons are on it.
I also would like to know if anyone knows if cruise control can be added. That is the one drawback I have so far. Really miss it on the interstate.

One of the reasons I bought a Smart car was because I was always backing up into something in my wife's Avalanche. Today, I proved that it wasn't the Avalanche that was at fault.
I was so proud of myself for pulling headfirst into a parallel parking space, without having to back into it.
When we got out, I checked front and back, and was pleased to see that I had TONS of room front and back. I was parked right in front of this crowded sidewalk cafe, and I looked up to meet the… Continue

I've just been told that my smart car is OTW (On The Water)- hence it is in transit to Baltimore. As, I live very close to Baltimore (<30 miles), I should be driving my smart car soon. Yahoo.

Our car club here in Arizona has nearly 150 members however we are lucky to get 10-15 to any event.
Other than runs to or through various scenic spots within short drives or getting together for lunch or coffee, what does your local car club do?
I've never been a member of a car club before so it's hard to figure out what to do. Any advice on jumpstarting the club and/or activities or just car club insights are always welcome!!!

I was trying to retrieve some letters that had fallen behind the seats of my SMART when it accured to me that the release levers that control the seat backs are located between the seats. It is terribly awkward to move the levers standing on the outside. It would be so much better if the levers were on the outside of the seats. I am looking to see if they could be reversed. Had the SMART for a week. So far so good.
