Tire & Wheel Package

Thanks for all the commemts. I don't think I am going to get the extra coverage on the tires and wheels. I might regret it later but hope not. I wasn't supposed to get my smart car for about 2 weeks but they called this morning and said it was at the dealership! I will be picking it up tomorrow. I am so excited.

Just got a scanguage and installed it to the left of the instrument cluster. It's velcro'ed to the top of the storage cubby.

So far, most trips average 42-46 mpg without the air conditioning and the top rolled back! One run with the AC blasting gave 38 mpg, but that was a lot of stop and go. I'm still on the first fill-up!

I need advice on oil filters . Can someone advise as to part #'s that I will need to buy @ my auto parts store. I live in a rural area and my local parts stores are not sure about which filter I need for the Smart Car. I want to be sure ,when I do my first oil change, that I have the right one in hand.

Wheel and tire package

I will be getting my new smart car in a couple of weeks. I am trying to decide if it is worth it to buy the wheel and tire package. Has anyone had any problems with the tires or wheels?

SMART 18 was anxious to get road tested, so a trip to Palm Springs seemed appropiate. We hit the I-5 and was humming along like a church choir at about 70 miles per hour.Soon some show offs like a massaratti, ferrari, lamborghine and a hummer passed and stared at us. They were obviously illiterate and couldn't read the posted 70 mile per hour limit.Later down the road I found out their issues, they were GASAHOLICS!!!!. They had pulled into a Chevron Station to get tanked up. They were real… Continue

So we finally test drove a Smartie!! I love it even more now! We are getting ours in two weeks and I am so excited. We actually got to see the gray metallic in person and we were impressed. I was thinking it would be gray, but it looks more like a really dark taupe?! I can't wait to pick it up!

I've always wondered about the rear wheels...

I think I have a question that's never been talked about before... can anyone tell me why the top of the rear wheels point inward? I would think the tires would wear uneven in this position? Other cars don't have the rear wheels like this. Any info on this would be greatly appreciated.

Orphan Available in Upstate New York

I reserved a Smart Cabrio back in July and I wound up adopting an orphan in August last year. My reservation remained in tact and I cancelled it when I got the email that it was ready to configure. I told the dealer that I was of course not going to take a second vehicle but they kept my reservation. The car is available for adoption if any of you are interested. The dealer is Smart Center Latham in upstate New York not too far from Albany, New York. Contact the dealer from their web… Continue

Smart Car St. Patricks Day Parade

Hey Everybody. I just got back from the St. Patrick day parade. Eileen set up Smart cars to be in the parade. I want to thank Eileen for her incredible services she has done to make arrangements at the bar afterward and to set us up to be in the parade. To view the pictures, look on my page because it was having a hard time uploading to the blog for some reason. Everybody that came along traveled long and far to be in the parade and I am happy I met everybody. They are all like my family and… Continue

Tire Pressure

My tire warning light came on, so I went down and bought a funky little tire gauge that lights up blue to match my Smart and after a few fits and starts figuring out how to work it, I found that all four tires were low, providing the opportunity to test my theory. I figured that with those little tires, I could air it up with my bicycle pump. Here are the results of my experiment:

1. Yes, indeed, you can air your tires with a bicycle pump.

2. Only a complete idiot would attempt number… Continue

Houston Smart Car Club's February 09 Meet

Houston had their February meet (A few weeks ago, oops!) at SRO Sports Bar at Northwest Mall. We are slowly increasing our numbers as we had 20-30 people and roughly 18 cars show up. Fun stuff looking at all of our cars and mods and all topped off with a nice lunch together.

March will be of course everyone's 1st anniversary celebration! If you haven’t been notified of the event, please go to the events page or click on the link… Continue

I took my smart 18 to the public car bath.I was afraid she might be embarrased by bathing in public. We pulled in and was placed between 2 large dirty boys,a lexus and a caddy.Fortunately two guys began to vacumn SMART 18,s enterior immediately which turned her attention away from the other two. Anxiously SMARTIE entered the sudsing portion of her bath.Peering through the glass I could see she was having good moment. Then the shower to rinse the the suds from her yellow skin ,it was something to… Continue

Highway Bumps

Anyone have suggestions for fixing the Smart suspension so it takes the bumps smoother? I'm not getting any feedback from my dealer, and this condition is my only annoyance. I have volunteered to the dealer to pay for new, different shocks, etc., if that will improve this common complaint.

I attend many social events in Beverly Hills. Pulling up in my SMART always creates a stir. The Bentleys and Rolls look on in envy. I can hear their motors rumbling with each other. My SMART shows no mercy. It craves the attention like a cheerleader going to her first prom. As my SMART date receives all the looks, I feel pride in being her escort. Can this last? I certainly hope so.
