A story about the smart appeared all over the country today. In my paper the headline was "Micro cars can mean major repair bills, study says." The picture accompanying the article is a smart4two.
In the first place the only "microcar" in the article is the smart. The others are mini cars. If you read the whole story you realize that the smart car was far less expensive to repair than any of the mini cars. As you know, it is one of the least expensive cars to insure as… Continue

Last night, a little after ten, as we were about to get ready for bed, we heard the Smart alarm go off in the garage. I had left the top down and the windows down. The roof rails were still in place. I had locked the car when we left it that way earlier in the day. My husband went into the garage to see if anything or anybody was disturbing the car. He couldn't find anything wrong. He came back into the house and a few minutes later, it sounded again. This time I unlocked the car, thinking that… Continue

What a great weekend we had! This rally was a GREAT success, and a good time was had by all 102 smarties that were in attendance!
It was especially nice to meet so many smart owners. What a varied group we are! The "smart spirit" was truly on display at this rally! From the sweet lady with the "doggie condo" in the back of her smart (complete with "pee pad"), to the folks with the gizmo that… Continue

I took delivery June 16, 2008. At the time of delivery the brand specialist informed me that the sun shade was stiff and that I would need to assist the movement by rolling the back part by hand until it loosened up. If it did not loosen it would be replaced. After 3 months I called you and advised the brand specialist that the shade was not working properly. March 14th 2009 I attended the one year anniversary at Smart Center in Sugar Land and mentioned to the service manager, that the sun… Continue

Wow! There has been a lot going on at the Center since my last update! We had a bake sale Friday at Baylake Bank in Sistery Bay which was a ton of fun! We had tons of goodies made by parents and Baylake Bank employees. Everything looked so good, and the babies from Sun and Moon Rooms even came to visit! I'm not used to having to share the limelight, but it was worth it to see the babies! They were quite a hit!
I made some new friends this weekend, despite the weather. At least I know… Continue

Yesterday Allison called from the smart center dallas. She was offering to get me into a new 2009 for about the same payments as I'm making now on Blue Belle my 2008 Passion. I have quite the fondness for Blue Belle. Already upgraded her horn, added the fuel door cover overlay, lug nut covers that match her blue, and HID headlights. Plus she has accessories like the Lloyds floor mats, cargo cover and seat covers. She's almost perfect. Would be nice to have the upgraded leather package, upgraded… Continue

Hi: Time to chance my oil . I can't see anywhere in the manual where it tells you the oil capacity. It tells oil weight ,but not how much it takes.

Have you gotten stranded in your smart yet? Well I was this weekend (06-6-09). I traveled from Bucks County Pennsylvania to Cape May County in southern New Jersey. I was going to visit a friend of mine. I had traveled about 90 miles when I stopped at a small dinner for a late breakfast. As I was putting my smart out of gear the button on the shifter would not move. I played with it and got it to work, and slid the shifter into park. And there it stayed. I was stuck. I called the smart road side… Continue

Wow. I haven't been on the site for quite a while.
I still have a little thrill when I look at and get into SunnyD and drive. I still get into a lot of conversations wherever I go, too. Love it. Never get tired of it.
I'm sure I've surprised a lot of highway drivers by how fast and maneuverable the smart is. I'm also seeing more and more smarts in ABQ. As a matter of fact, a smart owner lives just three houses down from me, which is surprising. I try to wave or honk at all… Continue

got my convertible in May 2008, still love it. Only drive it in manual. Love the way it handles. Have about 14,000 miles on it. Drove it all winter in MInnesota--went thru snow and ice everyday without snow tires--no problems. Got my Vanity Plates in May--my little French Built Car now is known as "OOOLALA". Feel its a fitting name.

Long time since I've visited the site. LOTS of messages to pour through.
So I've had Blue Belle for well over a year now. She's been to Gulfport Mississippi a couple of times, New Orleans Louisiana, Kansas, and a few other shorter trips. She drives like a champ!
I'm really very happy with Blue Belle. Made a few tweaks with an aftermarket horn and HID headlights. Also added the color matched fuel door cover and color matched lug caps. She's almost perfect. I've pampered her… Continue

It's almost complete after a redesign. My first concept and prototype was to have one bike rack to accommodate two different bikes, triathlon and a tandem bicycle. I found a couple of flaws in the prototype so back to the drawing board or the computer in my case and I finally worked out all the kinks.
1st Prototype - Tandem
08.8 lbs - Bike Rack Mount (Designed by Mr. Incredible)
11.4 lbs - Rocky Mounts Bike Rack
34.6 lbs - Cannondale Tandem Bike
54.8 lbs TOTAL for… Continue

I put this in forums but it didn't get much notice. I thought it was significant enough to repeat here.
I read on MSN Money that the smart4two defies conventional wisdom by being one of the cheapest cars in America to insure. According to MSNM you might think that because of its size the smart would be regularly totalled in acidents, but in fact collision claims are low (as we already knew from first hand accounts at www.safeandsmart.com).
Safety is attributed to both the… Continue

My husband and I rode through the lot of Smart of Cary, NC yesterday because they had let me know that they had a lot of Smarts for sale. What a treat to see so many Smarts -- all colors and styles waiting for new owners. They had a great selection. If anyone is tired of waiting, or if anyone is considering buying a Smart, Cary, NC is the place to go!!!

I was just wondering what everyone is getting on their miles per gallon. I have been averaging 45. I travel quite a lot on the freeway and am very impressed with how much I am getting. I just love my little car!!

When Tesla launched its amazing Model S a while back, it wasn't the only Tesla-powered machine supplying rides to attendees. Also ferrying guests about a short circuit (so to speak) was a smart fortwo imbued with a Tesla-engineered drivetrain, fruit of its effort to supply Daimler with battery packs for 1,000 smart eds. My friend Doug, of Tesla Motors Club fame, was at the event and went for a ride in the diminutive one, armed with a video camera to record the ride, the results of which we are… Continue

I like to look at my engine every now and then. Not that I would be able to do anything to it, I just like to know it's still there.
First, though, you have to find it. I got out the manual to find out how to get to it, and of course it had the usual photographs with indistinguishable details. I tried to follow the written instructions, just imagining what the photos would have looked like if they had been big enough to see. I didn't get very far.
You're supposed to pull… Continue

I was wondering if any of you have had any problems with the security system in their smart? Today I locked my smart and when I came out to unlock it, my key fob would not unlock. It acts like the battery is dead in the key fob and I had to manually unlock the door (and of course the alarm system goes off!) and I had to actually start the smart to get the alarm to go off. I do not know how to stop the alarm system. I also noticed there is no way to lock the door without the alarm system. The… Continue
