Well it's week two of driving the Red Baron. I'm having a blast driving this little red car. And, who wouldn't. It makes me smile every time I get in. Just thought I'd share. Hope everyone loves driving their Smart as much as I love driving mine!!!

This weekend was interesting here in the Belle City. Racine had it's "Micro's on the Monument" event downtown. Lot's of interesting small cars from the postwar era. They also had a couple of Smart cabrios that had extra trim installed. Other than a little extra zing around the taillights, I'm not sure I would add any extra stuff to our "Tardis". The styling is pretty tight the way it is. I was hoping to meet the owners, but they were on display by a company that adds the bling to you Smart,… Continue

What the heck does that title mean, you might ask?
Let me explain....
I was reading the latest Press Release from smartusa.com titled:
10 Years of the smart fortwo — the Vehicle Celebrates its Birthday
and it made me wonder what the next 10 years will be like for the world with the smart fortwo leading the way?
Here's some facts from the… Continue

... so: I love my new smart ("Lewis Hambach") and I am glad it has a line-in in the glove compartment for my ipod, but also owning a Honda Element (yes, I know, I love quirky cars with drop down tailgates) which has a power source right next to the "aux" plug and thus allows the ipod to charge while playing tunes through a Belkin adapter, I am looking for a similar solution for the smart without having to run cables all over/under the dash board and to the power supply from the glove box. Any… Continue

According to the dealer here in ABQ, my car should be here in approx 2 wks - somewhere around 8/15.
I don't remember the last time I had such anticipation! - Probably when I was a kid waiting for Christmas, or something.
It has given me time to do some financing research. If it were up to me, I'd choose a car payment somewhere around $100. But, no can do in this day and age. Shoot!
While I'm waiting, though, I've kept my eye on blogs from other owners on this… Continue

I still kind of hold my breath at times. Sometimes I honk the horn hoping to bring someone back to reality. I've learned it's not uncommon to see almost accidents
when driving the smart fortwo. Blue Belle attracts a lot of attention. It can be flattering. At other times it can be scary.
Today I was on the way home. I was minding my own business when I noticed a small pickup truck. It slowed and pulled behind me. It pulled left. Then it pulled right. Then it started to inch up… Continue

itibiti was on the radio last week! If you like, you can listen to the podcast here
It was alot of fun, and I was able to clear up some common misconceptions about our beloved smart cars. The whole broadcast is only about 4 minutes, 30 seconds long.
Listen closely as about half-way through the ride, we saw another smart car coming toward us. I know!! Go figure!! I can go weeks… Continue

i was stopped at a red light in the right lane when out of the corner of my eye i see a large brownish vehicle abruptly stop next to me. i slowly turn my head to see...a Hummer! the woman driving has her passenger side window down and asks me, "What's the mileage?" I tell her ,"33/41, though some are reporting better." then she asks, "how much does it cost?" i rattle off the answer before she grins and gives me a thumbs up, disappearing as quickly as she had come.
looks like the… Continue

Hi, did you realize you should not run a Cabrio through a car wash?
We were surprised that the dealer failed to mention this...although it certainly would not have made a difference in our purchase. Does anyone have any tricks or tips on cleaning their Cabrio? Do you use any special products?
We just picked ours up July 25th and drove home 700 miles. Great trip, fyi.

Just spoke with the local Smart Car dealer about my mileage: 26 mpg for last three tanks. Tires are fine. Driving is urban stop and go only. Running airconditioning most of the time since the ambient temp is in the 90's (plus I paid to have AC in the Passion).
The dealer said there is nothing they could offier diagnostically. The AC could be a big factor in a 3 dylinder car. "Take it on the freeway for a long trip and see what happens," he suggested. Knowing drivers in SLC, Utah I… Continue

102 degrees, 75 mph, and air conditioning made for sluggish passing the few times we caught up to trucks coming across Kansas, but by the time we hit New Mexico and Arizona I was getting pretty good at downshifting on those steep grades. (If we had a nickel for every dead armadillo we saw along the road in that state we could have bought a couple of gallons of gas. Though the dead elk near Flagstaff was much more startling--antlers poking out of the ditch, legs sticking stiff and straight out,… Continue

Guess this is as good a place as any.
I got bored. So I started checking out profiles. I began with those who had commented to my blog posts. Then I checked out folks that had commented on various posts. And the few that had commented in my profile. Can't forget some that had commented in some of the communities I belong to.
So many various, interesting, and intelligent people. Now I kind of wish I had paid more attention sooner. Over the past couple of days I have many… Continue

It's really sunny and hot in Texas and I know many of you can empathize coming from other hot states. Sure I shoulda bought a Pure with the solid roof or better yet the Cabrio with no roof but I have and love my Passion. Angel, another Texan, had a great idea to use one of those round collapsable windshield screens in the panoramic roof (between the roof and the sunshield) to help keep out the heat. Great idea and I did it immediately. However, it was shy about one inch all around. I had this… Continue

So I had just been at a small Smart Car meet up with my new Smart friend Moonhilda (it was just our two cars). I was driving back home when down the road I saw a Lamborghini. As we passed each other I obviously was rubber necking to check out his car, and noticed he was doing the same to my car.
Boy did that feel good.

Our little car was delivered in Feb 08. We purchased it as a toy to replace our Miata. We love Microcars, and as this is the first new Microcar sold in the US in decades, we jumped right on it.
Then the Gas went sky high, so as an experiment we decided to try Smartie as a business/work car (we run around 30k a year on our work cars).
We expected the little car to fail the test in reliability, and not be comfortable enough for regular 300 mile work days. Our expectations… Continue

For my first blog, I decided to commend, and brag a little about, the sMUG Group.
Who are we: smart Michigan Users Group / sMUG – The Home Team
is a group of smart owners and enthusiasts in and around Michigan and one very interested and active supporter, that being smart Center Bloomfield. We are not the largest group here, but as you can see from our event listing I dare say we’re the most active. Please take a look at the fun we’ve had so far. It’s amazing to me how much… Continue

I've had the Red Baron less than a week.
My Husband and I went to Home Depot this morning to pick up a few items for a bathroom remodeling project. As we are wheeling through the depot we pick up a shop vac, 2 three ton jacks, 3 gallons of paint, tile cleaner and sealer and lightbulbs. As we're wheeling out of check out I look at my husband and say...
Oh S---. We just bought a shop vac, 2 three ton jacks, 3 gallons of paint,… Continue
