Well, this is a first! I was waiting to make a right turn onto a rotary circle and the car coming around the circle began to stare at Maxwell! He wouldn't take his eyes off of us and the next thing I knew, he slammed into the curb and jumped up on the grass! He sat there a few minutes and then drove back off the curb and pulled to the side of the road. I felt so bad that we caused him to have trouble. I finally turned the corner and slowly approached him as he assessed the damage to his Honda.… Continue

I am going to be creating a Connecticut Smart car club! I am trying to rally every Smart car owner in Connecticut to meet at Heavenly Doughnuts on Route 34. I have not discussed with Earnie (doughnut owner) about the meet. It might be every other Saturday. I know that the Cruise night that I take my car to is on Sunday and two to three Smart cars show up, and I see plenty of Smart cars in Connecticut almost every single day. Spread the word and get other members in New York through Connecticut… Continue

UPDATED- (Speed question.) Well, I finally sat down to figure out mileage on my cross-country trip from Chicago to Arizona and back. We took the southern route (Kansas/Texas/NewMexico) down, and the northern route (Utah/Colorado/Nebraska) back. And...the verdict is...it ranged between 32 and 43 miles per gallon -- pretty much the same as on the flatlands of the midwest prairies, averaging 38 mpg with the air-conditioning running pretty much full blast. This was driving mostly at 70-75+ mph, and… Continue

My Blue Smartie is doing great and now have 800 miles on it. October will be the first road trip and will include going to New Hampshire. My question since I live in flat land how does the Smartie do in the mountains? Has anyone done a trip through the mountains and if so is automatic OK or should I use manual shift. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

When we went to pick up 'Tiny Red', we were given a hard sell on a protective coating for the body work. We didn't go for it. But, I left the dealership full of fear and trepidation. Apparently from what we were told, the slightest ding was going to be irreparable, the only recourse being to replace the panels. I'm interested in finding out how many of you Smart owners out there didn't take out the protection package, and how is your bodywork holding up so far?

Wow! I bought a radio bezel and had it painted to match the chameleon color of my smart.
I think it turned out really nice. I ordered it from Billet and Acrylic 'cause I think there stuff is pretty sweet. It looks great and the color changes depending on where you are sitting. As you can see it matches the color of my car and my instrument panel and clock and tach. Sweet!
I've never been so crazy about a car before. I'm not sure what else I will add. Oh,… Continue

I am having way too much fun with this car!!
I parked in front of the bookstore yesterday and when I came back to the car there was a mini cooper parked next to me. As I came around the car I saw a man with a tape measure laid out on the pavement next to my car! About that time a VW beetle pulled up on the other side of the mini and when the driver got out and saw what was going on, made the comment "don't bother measuring, the Smart wins"!!! The mini guy told me he could not believe… Continue

now people are paying me to look at my smart car!
My husband and I had just pulled into a parking space in Fairhaven, when a gentleman approched and started asking questions, he was very nice and really interested in the car, and asked if he could sit in it, so I got out and let him in my side. He and my husband talked for about 5 minutes and then my husband smiled and said "well that's the 25 cent tour". As the gentleman got out of the car he thanked us and said "that was well worth… Continue

Good news for anyone living in the Raleigh/Durham, NC area who wants a Smart Car ASAP. Have noticed a red Passion model for sale on Glenwood Avenue in Raleigh at Fast Cash Cars. It's across Glenwood Avenue from Fred Anderson Toyota. Also, about a half mile from there on Lumley road is a new place called Cabriolet Motors. It's in a renovated restaurant on the corner of Lumley and Glenwood Avenue. They have two Smarts in their showroom. I'd be driving the red Smart from Fast Cash had I not found… Continue

The New York / New Jersey area smart owners group just had our second meet at State Line Lookout at beautiful and scenic Palisades, NJ overlooking the Hudson River. Everyone had a fine time. Nine smarts and their owners showed up. Smart Power was so strong that a tenth smart showed up whose owner didn't even know about the meet - his smart car used its smart sense and brought him right to us! Everyone showed off their cars, mods and accessories.… Continue

I drove SunnyD up the Sandia Mountain (ABQ NM) Sat. It's pretty steep in places for a small car. I had ordered hilll assist, and it worked so well, I was passing SUVs, cars, and trucks. I was amazed. I've never owned a car that could do that. Once again, people were waving. I was questioned everywhere I went. I had a blast.
