After a year and 3 months, I got my e-mail that smarty is coming 1st of Sept. My dealer is Beverly Hills, CA--not exactly in my backyard. There is a great dealer in Torrance, but apparently not authorized until 2010. Bummer! I drove to BH to check location and it was not a pleasant drive, nor was the layout of dealership great. Now what do I do? Test drive was a bit tedious, what with lots of traffic and short jogs between signals. Can't say I did a great job on handling the car. Any other… Continue

For 13 days now my DDE has moved 13 days ahead (day by day) I mean really, is it that hard to figure out a date that wont move that much. Very Frustrating is all been the longest wait I have ever had to endure. Yes I will wait just wanted to say it. My DDE was at 08/16/2008 - 11/14/2008 now its at 8/29/2008 - 11/27/2008. The quicker I get within my window the better!!!!!!!

Good evening - Chuck Willis from Riverside
1. I'm gettng my 20,000 miles checkup this week. The 10,000 checkup was about $200.00.
I had only one problems during the first 10,000 miles. I blew a tire and it cost me $168.00,
from Riverside Mer/Porsche Dealer (Waters). I now take my car to West Covina Mer/Smat.
2. I drive about 700 miles per week. This car is more fun than driving my Boxer or Cayenne.
Looking for Smartcar People in Riveriside.

All I can say about this year's Woodward Dream Cruise is...WOW!! What a specacular success it was for our whole smart community. We had upwards of SIXTY
smarts there. Some of us were expecting between 15 and 20...and thought that would be good! We all owe a great big "Thank You" to Rick Cortright, all the folks at smart Center Bloomfield and our own Roger Stam for all their efforts.
smartUSA had a video documentary team there to… Continue

Last night we went to dinner with some friends. These friends happened to have tickets to the Rangers baseball game. We met for dinner at Mercado Juarez near the ballpark. Since he had a parking pass I was going to leave my car at the restaurant and we were going to ride to the stadium with them. Of course the restaurant had up a "Towing Enforced" sign.
Then I saw a familiar face. Looked like the neighbor across the street in front of our house. Though I've only met him once. I see… Continue

Too funny. Really. Go and buy an eyedropper at a drug store. After you fill your car up, stand there with your eye dropper and peer intently into your tank. Someone will come up and ask what you are doing. Tell them you are topping your tank off. Then turn around and say, :It's full!" can you use the rest of this gas? If they ask what your mpg is, just say about 20 miles per drop! You gotta have some humor to pull this off, but it is hysterical!

Im only getting about 29-30 MPG. Is there such a thing as ideling too fast? Will that use up more gas? Thanks Sandy

Driving around town in the smart car in recent weeks, I get the thumbs up from just about everyone who looks my way. By far though, the biggest surprises have been the motorcyclists and the preteen girls who wave, smile, and yell out "I LOVE YOUR CAR!" The preteen girls in particular actually have engaged me in conversation about the environmental impact and gas mileage. Kudos to them, and their parents.
Today on my way to the Seahawks game, with Bobbin sitting next to me, I found… Continue

My best friend, who lives in St. Louis (where I bought my blue-silver cabriolet) sent me an August 13th clipping from the Kirkwood Webster Journal, page A3. Headline: Little Smart Car brings big-time fun to seller. The owner is Ron Gaus. Pretty interesting article--talk about a SmartCar enthusiast!

CenTex smart Club sponsored a winery tour right here in our own backyard (the Texas Hill Country) on Saturday August 16th, 2008. It was a (grape) smashing success with a total of 8 smart cars! Four of our smart cars
met at Central Market (Central Austin spot) with with Sandy bringing along her dog. All four Central Market smarts received a prize for attendance, a giant role of Smarties candies.
The original 4 smarts were joined en route by… Continue

I can't remember exactly where it was the siting was made. It was on the way leaving Sturgis, SD and heading for Helena, MT. Here's the first distant glimpse and a road sign.
And saw my first smart in the wild. Here it is as we pass. I was waving like a silly fool. He looked at me like I was stoopid.
Then for a bit it was behind us.…

I still look at SunnyD in my garage when I park after work - god, what a small car!!!! I have a 2-car garage, and have a lot of stuff stored in there, but with the smart car in there, there's even more room! It's amazing. Sometimes I even look and think, how in the heck does that car speed down the street?! But there's so much more power than you think! I'm finding out what people mean when they say they just zip in and out of traffic; you can really do that. And scores of people have… Continue

I just got the call from my dealer and my yellow black is here!!!! He told me that they got eight on the delivery and seven of them are yellow. The downer is that because of the Dream Cruise in Detroit this weekend, I will not be able to pick it up until Monday. Oh well, there is a lot of relief for me just finally having it get here. I really don't want them to rush through getting it ready, nor do I want to pick it up in the middle of a mad house atmosphere. Monday will be my day! I will now… Continue

I read an article (Smart ForTwo Is a Blue-State City Car, Right? Guess Again) that stated that the "novelty" of the smart will wear off just like it did for the Mini and that smart gas milage isn't that great anyway. It also said that too succeed smart will have to diversify their product. Well, the gas milage sure seems better than the Yaris and the Fit (the cars they compared it too) and I believe that smart will diversify. It really already has with 3 distinct trims available. We know it's… Continue

When I got my smart I checked on Vanity plates and since mine is such a beast and Blue and Black. I settled on Bruiser......well, got the paperwork and sent to get my tag and Bruiser was taken...just in two weeks!
I tried several others to no avail so if you see Georgia 'WMX5CSG' running around, that is just code for bruiser :)

This is a blog about everything that has been done, modifications and accessories, to my smart car.
My windshield is tinted. There was a concern about placing any "window" stickers on the tint film. I believe I have a solution. The 2008 Annual Metropark pass must be attached to the inside of the windshield which would mean "sticking" to the tint film. What I did was "stick" the annual… Continue
