Calling All Florida Smarties:
We have an incredible opportunity to eclipse the 133 smart cars that met a month ago on Lombard St. in San Francisco and enjoy a super meet and greet here in our own state.
On Dec, 5, 6, & 7 the Sebring Raceway in Sebring Florida will be the site of the Historic Fall Sports Car Races. These races are put together and managed by Historic Sportscar Racing LLC.
I have been able to negotiate a deal with HSR, LLC which would include: Entry to the… Continue

What do folks use to protect the material on our Cab's top? This is my first experience with a soft top and I live in a very UV harsh environment... Any thoughts or suggestions??

Having a reservation number of #1409, have been wondering for many months when I might get a delivery date estimation. Finally, after checking the delivery estimator site for many months, am getting a estimated delivery of Oct 2009 to Dec 2009 (I am in the Dallas, TX area). Sure seems like a long wait, but I suppose patience is indeed a virtue. My SMART will be a passion coupe.

I've noticed some postings regarding towing but still not clear if flat towing (I think that's what it's called when all 4 wheels are on the pavement) is okay - I have a 29' 'C' class RV and want to tow mine (when i get it) - Sorry if I'm rehashing something that has been discussed, but I have been reviewing past post for the last couple of hours and can't find anything definite - Thanks,

....And then it was time. Took delivery of my smart Saturday at about 1pm. LOVE IT! Even though I had a pretty busy weekend planned, I managed to put in 200 miles. And with the beautiful sunny and warm weather on Sunday I was able to enjoy it with the top down. Hopefully that won't be the last day I can do that in 2008.

Wow, this was a bunch of fun. First because it was the first long trip I had done with my smart car named "Scoots", and it gave me a chance to find out what the MPG on the highway would be... (43MPG). Jeff did an excellent job setting up the Rally and got the word out. I believe we had 16 Smart Cars in all travelling the roads from Ames to Ankeney and finally ending up in Des Moines. If you would like to see some of the pictures just follow the links… Continue

My most frequent question being in a large college and auto making town has been "Where did or do you get that?" My funniest answer was "Out of a vending machine at the mall." I always give the web address too.
Second would be what mileage I am getting. My most interesting answer
was a short discussion with a man driving his worn out Geo convertible. I told him my mileage probably wasn't quite as good as his, he gets 50-60 in the Geo and I used to own one of those too. However,… Continue

Help! I am only getting, at best, 28 mpg. I do most of my travel in city but I keep reading that many of you are getting close to 40 mpg and many of you in a variety of conditions. I have gone without AC, aired the tires, tried both using automatic and manual, use premium gas I just can't even get it to 30. Any other ideas or thoughts would be greatly appreciated? Even with this gas mileage I still love my car.

My Smart Passion Cabrio just turned 2000 miles. Absolutely no problems so far. My wife and I both love it.
The more we drive it the more we like it. I have even come to like the transmission - leave it in auto most of the time, but when there is a need to hold a gear, or downshift for a planned acceleration to pass or enter freeway I slip it into manual. Around town and for short trips we prefer driving it to either of our other vehicles - a 2008 Cadillac STS loaded with all bells and… Continue

(standing) Hi, my name's kurlee and I'm addicted to smartusainsider.com. Every time I turn on my computer this the first place I go. I know I'm not the only one because I see many of the same people responding to questions/comments. I have a long time to go before I get my car and I am in need of your support. : ) I love seeing all the photos from the group meets and just from around town. I haven't been a part of such a cult-like group of followers since my bug days in the '80s and '90s with… Continue

After running around for the approved stanley staples, only to find them not available around here, I finally decided to purchase a package of Swingline 3/8 heavy duty staples at Staples. These work perfectly. The best part is I found them at all the office supply stores in CT I checked. The install went fine. Took a little over an hour. Hooked up the battery and took a little test drive before batting down the hatches and all worked great. Pulled back into the garage and put all back together… Continue

My DDE is 10-22-08 to 1-20-09 and now that it is getting close I can't wait. When it was a year away I was fine but now I'm obsessed. I check the DDE 6 times a day. When did you guys get your cars in your 3 month window. Does the 3 month window go down to a 1 month window or 1 week or what. Help, thanks for letting me vent.

Ooooh, they came in the mail. My sweet and lovely Wet Okole smart seat covers.
Due to the nature of our smart car purchase (not an orphan, not reserved) we didn't really have the choice of interior styling. We got what we got. I'm not sure we would have chosen leather (we are divided on leather) but it was obvious that the cloth seats were not going to hold up to the drivers (one bear and one otter) plus 4 kids under 10, and 2 teenagers (all occasional riders). So we… Continue

I have been gone out of the country for a couple of weeks. I will be moving to Belize before the end of the year. Should I store our smart (Mr. Bean) or should I sell him? Will probably be gone for 3-5 years. Will gas be outrageous when I get back? He has less than 500 miles on him, but my fiancé' are at a quandary on what we are going to do with him, and my family is split down the middle. Let us know what you think.

Well, my long wait it almost over. I reserved August 10, 2007, configured March 7, 2008, and received the call September 22, 2008 that I can pick up my smart this week. I will be picking it up September 27, 2008 at approximately 1:00pm. I can't wait to finally have this car and bring it home. Although I have a busy weekend already planned, I will find time to get out, enjoy the nice weather, and take some pictures.
