We took delivery of our Smart Passion the first of March. I had never even sat in one, much less driven one before that time. When I went to the dealer to take delivery we took a 10 minute drive. When we finished the first thing that I said was "order me another one". We both love the little critter. I got an email the other day saying that it is time for me to configure my Passion that is on order. I'm wondering what is offered on the new model besides some new colors and the top option? There… Continue

While driving, it seems every single other driver wants to pass the car (maybe they're thinking it can't keep up with the speed limit), even though I'm driving at or over the speed limit??
I'm teaching myself to drive the speed limit and stay in the right lane, esp on highway, but I'm thinking if I drive 80 or 90, someone would STILL try to pass my car!

Would you be interested in a Central Texas Braille Rallye?
It's a timed auto sports event where a driver is paired with a visually impaired or blind co-pilot (navigator), who is responsible for reading the directions, in Braille or large print, and guiding the driver to the check points and through the course using public roads and ordinary traffic rules with the object of maintaining a specified average speed between checkpoints over a route unknown to the participants… Continue

Is/has there been such a thing? If not: Are other smart owner groups interested to organize one for spring/summer 2009? Maybe at Penske's headquarters?

The smart car owners of the Lehigh Valley (still working on an official name) met for the first time on Saturday in the pouring rain for a fun, and fascinating luncheon. We have plans set up for next month, and hope to have a lot more members, and not so much rain.

I was on my way home from work this evening when my engine light came on. I only have 2,175 miles on the car. Anyone else experiencing this? Also, can I take the care to a Mercedes dealer to have it serviced.?... looks like some of you have.

I want the Smart Hybrid! I understand that it's now standard in Europe for the 2009 models, why did the US just get a few minor tweaks. 20% better fuel ecomomy is quite significant. What's up US? Is it a Penske decision? Shame on them! Is it a Government regulation issue? Tell us what's up so we can demand better fuel economy.
I just got my request to configure my Smart but I'm going to turn it down until they hybrids or electrics become available. So close to nirvana...

As the very happy owner of a 2005 Black/Black Passion for two (that has been modified to meet US safety, crash and emission standards), I love driving my Smart now as my daily driver. However, I'm coming up on 4,000 miles, and am sure I'm going to see the little "spanner" (wrench) on the dash display soon telling me it's time to take her in for an oil and filter change and her first tune-up service. My problem is that both the local Mercedes dealerships in the area AND the Smart Center have… Continue

I am looking for solutions to the sun problem with the sunroof. I am getting too much sun through the sunroof and it makes the car hot, too! I wear sunscreen and I keep the roof shade closed, but it only filters the sun. I investigated tinting, but the sunroof material can not be tinted, or so I was told by a tinter. I am eager to hear of solutions or suggestions to block out the sun. Thanks!

Hi Everyone: I have had my yellow Smart Passion for just a week and truly love this fun, happy, little car.
I live in San Diego County and would like to find a Smart Owners group here. Anyone heard of one and know how to contact them? Thanks for any help.

When you come to own a Smart it is just not like buying another car. This experience is going to change your life for good. The moment you take the keys turn the ignition on and drive off the dealers parking lot you have just stepped into the world of being a celebrity. Your life from this point on is going to change. The trip to mall or super market is going to take longer because you have a line of people who have questions about your car. Your coworkers are going to be jealous of you as you… Continue
