There does not seem to be a blog for Maine Smart Owners yet. If anyone knows if there is please let me know.
I have just picked my color car and am expecting to get it next spring. I do have many questions to ask my friends in Maine.

I can't believe how hard it is for some people to "Open Your Mind". Last month I went to do my test drive and put in my reservation. The following day at work I taped a picture of one, that I cut out of a magazine, on my locker. I couldn't believe the reaction from my co-workers. Most asked the same questions you've all heard (what is it, mileage, safety, etc.) but one person in particular had a really strong reaction. She said "I can't believe you did that. You'll get killed in that thing",… Continue

There was an event held in San Francisco on August 17th. I understand there were over 100 Smart Cars lined down the famous Lombard Street hill (you can only go down this crooked street) and I'm looking for the pictures. Has anyone seen them and where are they? I am a native San Franciscan and a Smart car owner, so I have an interest in how this event turned out.

I've had my Smart orphan for about four weeks. I notice that when I am going up a steep hill, I hear quite a bit of engine noise. I'm wondering if this is normal.
Also, a coworker was in the parking lot when I drove in recently. He said that it sounded like there was a loud rattle in the back. On another day, he said my engine sounded like the moped he had as a kid. Since I don't know what's normal for this car, I don't know if I should be alarmed and headed to the dealer to have… Continue

At the smart dealer last Friday, I had the cargo net installed (kind of expensive for such a small piece of stretchy string, don'tcha think?), and they asked me if I wanted to have my sunshade replaced, because it was one of the "bad" ones. So after it was installed, it seemed to me that there was less sun coming in and the car wasn't quite as hot. -Anyone else notice that, or am I going crazy?

Got my configure email 9-5-08 like apparently so many others. We love our orphan "Annie" and are debating the next step. A few folks have asked about buying one but they're not on smart USA's list. They are willing to put the money in my account so I can buy the "new" car for them. I've also seen on blogs that some (?) dealers will give you the same $$ you paid for your orphan towards your newer configured model. Also, the thoughts behind NOT giving up your configured (and getting your $99… Continue

I am 6'7" 250 and struggle to find cars that fit. I've reserved a Smart based on the rumor that they are big enough for giants.
Any giants out there want to confirm or deny?

I live in Plattsburgh, NY. Its an hour away from Montreal. I see Canadian smarts every once in a while but I wonder how many other American smart owners there are north of Glenns Falls? It would be nice to have contact with you if you are out there!

I have only had my car for 2 weeks and see very few in the West Valley. Is there a club or events here anywhere in the valley? Anyone interested in a club or smart talks at Starbucks. I live in Surprise & work in Goodyear.

I absolutely love my new smart (Blue/black Passion Cabrio), since July 12, 2008). However, if anyone from the company reads these blogs, here is my list of "I wish it had"s:
I wish it had Cruise Control
I wish it had Automatic headlamps on/off
I wish it had a center console
I wish it had a more accessible ipod jack
I wish it had one-touch roof-retraction (you know...like the windows)
I wish it had bigger (or extensible) sunvisors
These suggestions… Continue

I have a Kia Rio right now and I tell you it secretly wishes it was a boat. It hydroplanes very readily in the rain. Additionally, it blows all over in the wind. Given that the Rio is slightly larger (and likely heavier), I am worried that I may encounter the same issues. Has anyone driven it in torrential downpours this summer? I'd hate to wait a year for my smart to have it slide off the road and into the ditch on a rainy day.

I pick up my Smart at
2799 Piedmont Rd. NE
Atlanta, GA 30305
June 30th 2008.
I live in Foley Alabama.
My sunshade didn’t work at the dealership and was told that I could bring it back and a new one installed but the sunshade was on back order and would be shipped to me as soon as the back orders came in.
I have called at least 8 times and have been told still on back order.
I have asked for the GM in the Smart… Continue

For those that have their Smart Cars, can you tell me how long it took for you to get yours once you placed your reservation?

I told them that I wanted HID lights option and all weather floor mats. I drive nearly every night (work afternoons) so I wanted the best lighting I can get. It was pricey but I feel it will be worth it.

Guess What!!!! I just had to pick up my teeth when I got the price of a Full Service Oil change!!!!!Needless to say I think that $260.00 is a little steep. My bank account is not happy. Apparently when you say full service they will check your tires & breaks, Lights, belts etc. So, my understanding is that for the $260.00 I can now feel good that my car is ready to travel again.
