NOT smart YET!

Ok, I seem to be hedging on this subject and I have my heart set on a smart FourTwo. However, what's holding me back from actually buying a smart FourTwo is the price and what you get for that price.

Personally, I think the FourTwo is over priced for the small amount of car that you do get. If you looks at the FourTwo Pure, you don't even get a radio. Hey, there is no powersteering, no A/C, and only room for two people and little space for anything else. All that "missing" is for… Continue

2008 or 2009?

Does anyone know when the model year officially changes.....I take delivery end Oct and wonder if I'll have a 09 or an 08. I know there's no change, but curiosity is getting the best of me. Most other car companies bring out new year models in Sept/Oct.

Smart in snow...

Has anyone had any experience driving the Smart Car in snowy conditions? Will I be able to get studded tires for mine? Thanks!

Anyone besides myself been in an accident with their Smart Car? A lady ran into the back of my Smart Car at a stop. Apparently she wanted the spot that i was in. Anyway, i recieved about $300 worth of damage + labor. Her four door Impala took a pretty big hit to the front end. It looked like her hood and front end needed to be replaced. Luckliy no one was seriously injuried. If i had been in my truck it might have been totaled? My Smart Car saved me for shure.

I ordered a smart car back in March, I now find out you have stopped producing the yellow car. Driving such a small car yellow is the most visible color for any car. I thought Mercedes was all for safety & accident avoidance, this color is one of the best ways to promote it. My dealer says many people are upset about the color delete & hopefully you will hear from many other annoyed customers. I don't appreciate having to spend $ 810 to buy the panels & having to install them.

Moon Roof Shade Not Rolling?

Have had my "Peanut" 2 months now. Love everything about it. No matter where I go people point, stare, ask questions, or gather around.
Has anyone had a problem with the retractable moon roof shade? Mine was a bit balky upon delivery but now won't open at all. Before I make the 3 hr. trip back to the dealer, I'd like to hear if anyone's had the same problem.

Attention Getter

After about four weeks and 2000 miles (I went on vacation or would have twice that many) - the SMART is simply a magnet for comments, questions and admiration. People stop me as I get out of the car in parking lots - they often are gathered around it as I return to the car. I fell in love with the Fortwo in '05 when I saw my first one in London. I ordered my baby back in August 07 - and one of my friends stated that I was "prescient" in having planned the purchase just as gas prices topped out… Continue

How Long is The Wait?

I have been on the waiting list since Nov. 01, 2007. Anyone have any knowledge of the average wait time for delivery?

I LOVE my smart. Everywhere in Mystic CT she goes - people smile. I would like to add satellite radio without harming (or disfiguring!!) her. Any suggestions?

Our Own Secret Society

we were headed to Ikea in West Sac when my husband spotted it: "Look, another smart!" Sure enough, there it was. -- and it was a bumblebee like ours! we both waved and were surprised that the driver actually saw us and waved back. couldn't help but grin.

it's always cool to see another smart on the road. if other smart owners are like us, they're probably always keeping their eye open for another smart, especially since there are so few of us.

anybody else unable to put the car in park or reverse???

so i have 2400 miles on my smart car, bought it in april, and it had been more of a challenge the past week or so to put the car into park after driving around... and tonight when i got home it just plain wouldn't go. so i couldn't put the car in reverse or park which also meant i couldn't get the key out... which meant i couldn't leave the car sitting in the driveway overnight. a tow truck came and hauled it off... he said he's seen this issue a lot with the smart cars. anybody else have this… Continue

What is the True capacity of the gas tank?

Like Michelle, I have been having a problem with the fuel gauge. I will have the dealer take care of that. What baffles me though is that .......... a few weeks ago, I actually filled 8.724 gallons in the tank. Any thoughts on that???

Gas tank now not a problem.

My second bar on my gas guage just went out. Thank god there isn't a problem there anymore. My dad said if it never moved then I would have to go back to the dealership for them to take out the gas tank and fix whatever the problem is. Who knows how long it would be there for. Thankyou everyone for your comments, it made me feel a lot better about this.

Euro ForTwo Bulbs

I have not found much information as far as American bulbs for the Euro Smart ForTwo Passions (450 models) so here are the ones I know of:

+ 2357A or 2057A (either works) - front and rear turn indicators
+ 7506 - driver's side rear fog light
+ 509T - twist lock bulb for the console interior light and button

I will add to this list as I learn more. :)

UPDATE: 5 Sept. 2008
These bulbs should also work on Euro Smart ForTwo Pures.

smart center Milwaukee

We went up to Milwaukee for the Harley 105th Anniversary celebration. And on the way up to the Green Bay Packers game {they lost} we saw the Milwaukee smart center. So we had to go back and visit!

When we first walked in we saw Ms. Working on a seek and find. Don't think she even knew we came in the door.

We weren't there long when Mark came over and introduced himself.

I couldn't have asked… Continue

Gas tank, hopefully not a problem.

I have driven my smart about 159 miles so far. Only one of the gas tank lights has come off my car when there is 8 there letting you know when you come to empty and you need to fill up. Has this happened to anyone else? How many miles is everyone getting from one fill up?

My first holiday tour in my smart...

Wow!!! I went 916 miles and only put in 37 dollars of gas in during the trip. I was able to go home, visit all of my friends and travel to all the places I haven't been to in years. I admit, my father put in three gallons for me when I let his wife drive with him for about an hour one morning. When I got home I filled it back up for another 30 dollars and after figuring it all out, it costs under 8 cents a mile to operate, it rode wonderful, up those long winding roads that most cars can't… Continue

transmission geting stuck in reverse

for those of you who run into the problem of your transmission geting stuck in reverse, (not being able to move it into park), I ran into this problem, and took it back to the dealer. they fixed it rather quickly. when I asked what was wrong he said the transmission has a lock module. they had to remove that, take it apart and readjust it.
