Well I hit the 1000 mile mark

I hit 1000 miles yesterday. I still love the car. I my gas milage has dropped a little but that is due to michigan weather I believe. As of right now it is 46F outside. Still get good milage though I get around 38-41 @ 70 MPH. Which is pretty good. I have burned all my cd's to mp3 format and the radio 10 sees them and posts the info on the screen perfectly. well that is all I have to say.

smart art

It only took me 6 months. But I finally painted Blue Belle. I guess it's because she's a car and not a glass a wine that it took so long. Yep. I paint wine. A big jump for me to have tried this. I have to admit I picked the easiest picture first. Here's the picture {kinda sorta} but it's been cropped for the motivational poster.

It's acrylic on canvas. Now I guess I'll have to try and… Continue

Homelink and autodimming mirrors

Unfortunately as unique as the smart cars are, they don't offer an abundance of options yet. There is a company out of Indiana that sells Gentex autodimming mirrors (same mirror that 94% of the auto industry uses) into the aftermarket. They have these mirrors for the smart cars. The smart centers in Round Rock, TX and Coral Gables, FL are offering them, rumor has it that more centers will get on board soon.

Road accidents with the smarts

I have been reading blogs and forums and I have discovered that there have already been some members that have had accidents while driving their smarts. It would be interesting to hear these stories: how the accident happened; the other car that was involved; the damage to each; and any injuries. Thus far I've only read of a couple collisions and the smart performed as designed and took the worst upon itself and the passengers at worst received a few bruises. I think this is a testament to the… Continue

Bentley owner likes my Smart...

The President of our company drives a Bentley, he occasionally comes in the office. Today after work as I walked over to my car, he asked if I can pull over my Smart so he can check it out. He sat in there and made some nice comments about my car, he was joking with the VP, he considering downsizing. Everyone love the Smart cars!!!

While traveling today on IH 10 I saw not one, not two, but THREE transports full of smart cars. They were all headed west so folks in Louisiana and Alabama should be getting their cars soon. They looked so small on the truck and trailer. All the colors made me think of an Easter basket. I was meeting the transports and did not get a chance to count the number of smart cars will fit on one "load". That would be interesting to know. They just looked "cute" sitting up there with the smile on their… Continue

Am to take delivery in a week or two, in CA, and am wondering what most people do regarding the fact that there are no spare tires.....did you buy the program sold by SMART to cover that, or did you go with Auto Club or your regular insurance roadside assistance program.
Any comments from anyone?

Not happy with service from dealer

Don't get me wrong but I love my Smart Car. It's fun to drive and the commits from people are somtimes funny and great. I just want to let people know that if you have to get your Smart Car in Ohio don't get it from the Cinncinati Smart Dealer. I have had so mant problems such as getting my title so I can get my registration,(my car set in the garage for a week because my temps were expired while waiting on my title.) I also asked for an extended warranty the day I bought it and was told I… Continue

So, we configured a week ago. We have decided to get the metallic grey passion w/ tan interior. Right after we configured, we checked the ETA. The ETA is Dec 08 - Feb 09. But just today, we checked and it has changed to Nov 08 - Jan 09. Hopefully we can get it before the end of the year!!!!

Back from 4 month RV trip

Hi all you Smarties out there. Just a quick note if you have to leave your Smart sit for a while. We went on a 4 month RV trip with our motor home and left my Smart at home since we have not installed a tow package yet. I hooked the Smart up to a battery minder(not too hard to do, but you have to remove the passenger side floor to get to the battery) and put a bottle of Sta-Bil into the full gas tank. On our arrival home, I disconnected the battery minder and little Smart started right up. I… Continue

Windup Key for the Cabriolet

I received my windup Key from www.windupkey.com; however, I can't install it. The inside of the rear hatch door is different from the illustrations in the directions, even after removing the pieces which fit/hold the the bars over the windows when you want that full convertible feel. I've emailed Mark Shaw at www.windupkey.com, but I thought I'd check here as well. Thanks!

Mountain Drive

Well it's been about 2 weeks since I've had my '4Two' and have been very impressed with it - My first tank of gas was a fill-up of 6gals and 32 miles per - Not bad considering the engine is breaking in and I drive it like a Ferrari.

Decided to take it up to the mountains this weekend for a little color drive – Being a Cab it’s one of the things we were wanting to do – Top down and looking up and seeing all the great color and breathing the mountain air – I’m still on my second tank… Continue

Fuel Mileage

I have been reading with interest all of the posts on fuel mileage. I have been a 451 owner since January 26, 2008 and have just over 15,000 miles on my smart. My mileage has been all over the map, low of 33, high of 48. I have used premium, mid-range and regular. One observation I have made is that fuel grade has little to no impact on mileage. I am a firm believer in the mantra of the car mags (Car & Driver and Road & Track) that if you engine does not ping or knock, the octane rating… Continue

How long does it take?

Hi. I have been a smart car reservation holder since August 9, 2008. I gave the dealer $300.00 and was told some1 would be in touch w/me in about a month. No one has contacted me at all. Should I call the dealer or wait since there is a long waiting listing for these cars? Thanks
