Toyota IQ, better then Smart? Your call.

Hello, i have been looking at the IQ for the past couple days, there isnt just one site out there that gives you all the information you need, but i was luckey enough to find tid bits and a article in a magazine. The IQ is a so called four seater, the passenger seat sits further forward then the driver to allow more leg room to the back passenger, as for behind the driver seat, there is enough room for a child seat, or a very small friend. You have the choice of filling the car with people, or… Continue

In the news

Since I adopted an orphan I decided not to bring home the one I configured. But it still stayed in the family. And tonight it was on the local news in Louisiana.

The video is on the top right.

First long drive

Well I took my first long drive in my smart. I drove 250 miles approx (one way) (4 - 5 hours) to indianapolis to visit family. Drove and rode nice. Trip back was windy that was "interesting" had the steering wheel turned left up to 30 degrees at times just to continue straight. Not having cruise is a bummer, but you really get use to it. I averaged around 36 mpg for the trip.

Credit Freeze

For those of you about to pick up your new car, let me warn you about a minor problem I encountered last week when I picked up my car. I was told to bring a personal check since I could only charge up to $3000 on my credit card (although my limit could have covered the whole cost). However, when I was prepared to close the deal on site, they said they needed to run a credit check in order to accept a personal check. With a credit freeze on all three credit services, they would not accept my… Continue

New Wrap

Picked up my car last month and had it wrapped in one of my paintings. I'm very pleased with the results, as unique as a smart car is...having a custom wrap is even more fun. I'm starting a new website that will be up and running 11-20-08. Keep up with Bebe's adventures and win prizes. I love my smart, she was worth the wait! As a painter, it is lots of fun to have one of my works zipping around town.

Braille Rallye in Texas

The TSBVI and CenTex smart Club Braille Rallye was a grand success!

We had 16 smart cars and their families show up for the event. They did a quick background check, signed in and awaited their navigators.

While waiting for the start of the race navigators and their families from the school's Parent Weekend got to check out the smart cars! Lots of questions of course, curious looks, and cries of "I want one" were heard.

Two other… Continue

Well, my bike is gone...

Well, my little Honda CB400A is gone. A kind man in Florida bought it. I did not get as much as I had hoped, but with the economy as it is, I think I did well. It was a 1978 CB400A Honda Hawk Hondamatic. It was a clutch less two speed that I bought in June of 2007 and fixed up. We poured a total, including tires and purchase price of the non-running bike, of $1000. Besides my wife, God, and my desire to finish, I would not have graduated school with out it. It allowed my wife and I to be in two… Continue

So our love at first sight is almost here, we just received the good news the other day that Sweet Pea is on a boat coming in on Dec. 13, 2008. We've been reading all the blogs, testimonial's, and gathering as much information we can, just to make sure we are doing the right thing, and we have concluded that we have good reason to get excited. That is why I'm sending out into cyberspace our expression of joy and anticipation, because if I don't I'm just going to burst. Only kidding it's just a… Continue

The Sand Crab Theory

I once attended a motivational seminar where the speaker used sand crab behavior to explain why “misery loves company.” He told the audience that when collecting sand crabs off a beach, it wasn’t necessary to put a cover on the bucket in which they were carried. He explained that no matter how hard an individual sand crab might try to climb on top of his brethren to escape over the side of the bucket, the others will just pull that crab back into the bucket in the effort of escaping themselves.… Continue

Seats Starting to Get Uncomfortable

I have had my car for about two months, and I am finding that the seat is getting uncomfortable. I bought the car in Phoenix and drove it 1600 miles home to Chicago, and it didn't bother me at all. I've been commuting with it for about a month and a half, and am in the car for two hours per day. Within the last couple days, it seems that I am constantly moving around to find comfort and get sore very easily. Its like there is not enough back support in the right places.

Is anyone… Continue

Finally Delivered

So after 18 months the smart fortwo that I reserved and configured finally came in. It came in last week and we picked it up on Friday. It's staying in the family just not in our garage or driveway. The man persons brother took delivery. I drove to Louisiana to pick him up and bring him to the Dallas dealership.

There is NO WAY I could have waited this long. I'm so glad I got my lil orphan Blue Belle when I did. Though I did see a lovely lil white cabriolet orphan on the floor there.… Continue

Setting the dash clock

Hi : We have now had our car for 2 weeks, have been putts around with it from day one ,the learning curb is slow but fun . I guess because I am over the age of 20 years old , I can not seam to set the dash clock . The manual says to press and hold the right button until the digital clock starts to flash . I can get that to happen . The next step says to keep pressing the right button and the time will start to advance until I reach the right time . The way I read the manual , I should be able… Continue
