I was surprised to see 4 door models and 1 really cool sports model in Italy recently.

Anyone out there in NorCal interested in forming a club for Smart owners? Is there one already?

It is a good thing that I am retired because no matter where I go I have to spend 15 minutes showing and talking about my Suzi Continue

I want to fancify my smart. I just can't decided on what to do.
Should I add a wind-up key? A wrap job? New prism paint? Adorn it with smart-related bumper stickers?
Should I use it as billboard space? Maybe make some money?
I'll be all but settled on something, and then I'll look at Domo. And nothing seems quite right. Nothing matches him. He's a sweet little car, my blue and black smartie. Sweet and simple. I guess he'll stay how he is for now. At least, until… Continue

I got my new plate yesterday and got it on quickly. I posted that and also posted a picture taken at Bloomfield smart Center in Michigan. Do those cars belong to any of you? I just loved seeing all of them together! I am over 1500 miles and really love driving my smart. It is just such a joy to jump in and go!
People are getting used to seeing me now and the questions are becoming a little less. But I still get asked what it is and how many miles per gallon does it get? Luckily, I do love… Continue

Someone on another smart forum was asking what is it about a smart, other than gas mileage, that makes it so special. They said that they saw the car and were impressed but not enough to want to fork over $14,000 for it. Some folks had different replies: that the car made them happy, that it's fun to drive. Others said it's like being a cat person or dog person, or, if you have to ask then you just don't get it.
What makes anything special for anyone? It comes down to how you connect… Continue

My fourth of July weekend was like a million others this year; Bobbin and I watched a local parade, we went to the big annual celebration in the park, ate a lot of hot dogs and drank a lot of lemonade, stayed up late and watched fireworks, etc. etc. But there were a couple of small anomolies where the Smart was concerned
First I was kicking myself as I watched the parade - there was a section (as there always is) of the parade dedicated to the big-engine, midlife-crisis,… Continue

As I hit the PUBLISH button I saw that I had written "everyone WANT to know where to get one..."
I KNOW that it should say "Everyone WANTS to know where to get one"-- BUT once it is out there... well... I'm just letting anyone reading this KNOW that it should be-- everyone wants to know!

I got my Smart on Thursday, July 3, 2008. It is even MORE fun to drive that I imagined! EVERYONE want to know what kind of car it is and WHERE they can get one! I tell them that I had the BEST experience at the Smart Car dealership in Latham, NY. Everyone there is great and I thank them for helping me get my dream car!

Today was so cool! I LOVE driving this car! I was driving around Austin and had LOTS of people stop, stare and smile. Lot's of drivers turing their heads too. The coolest ones were the pacers. A silver corvette paced me to look while I was on the highway and so did a tricked out red (with flames) convertible mustang, but the very best was from the Durango driver who actually leaned out his window to look. Driving is fun again, even without the attention. It handles well, I lOVE the transmission… Continue

The August 2008 Consumers Reports magazine had a "First Look" at the Smart ForTwo. The reviewer used some poorly chosen words to describe a few of his opinions, so I took exception with the following eMail:
I read with interest your First Look of the New Smart ForTwo (August 2008). Happily, I am an owner of this most unusual car. While your reviewer made some good observations (the ride is horrendous), he also made some judgments which are both nonobjective and downright… Continue

Once again we had a great experience at the Round Rock smart Center. They know we have 4 kids (ages 3, almost 4, 8 and 11) so they are always eager to help get us on our way. Our boys and girls now each have a smart car baseball hat with "Open your mind" on the brim . White for the boys and pink for the girls. I'll have to get a black one next time we visit the RR smart center. These hats are very high quality and I can highly recommend them. A HUGE bonus for us is that there is NO velcro on… Continue

We just delivered our 100th smart out of the Albuquerque smart center! We have had a fun filled six months since we opened for business. It has been a blast to meet all of the smart owners, reservation holders and fans. It is hard to imagine that a year ago the smart USA roadshow was here and we hadn't even started construction on the biggest smart center in the US. We have a great team here at smart center Albuquerque that is just as passionate about the brand as our… Continue

I have had my Smart Cabriolet since May 29th. I just love it! I was able to order the 3rd choice for a personalized plate - FL thought SmartAs was profanity - well I NEVER! lol, but I got Smarty. It's not here yet but it will be soon. I went with the all black car knowing that would leave me options to cutie it up even more. I'm working on that factor now. It doesn't pay for me to stop in a rush anywhere, cuz everyone wants to know more and look inside, etc. You know the drill. I have people… Continue

Well, we've had "the Tardis" for a little over two months now. Helen took it cross country to Pennsylvania to pick up our niece for her annual visit with us. She said she had a blast driving it out there and coming back. Lots of stares on the turnpike, and lots of conversations at the rest stops. Helen also related the following anecdote, "I was driving and saw a group holding up signs for a $5.00 car wash as a fundraiser. When they saw the Smart coming toward them, they both started yelling,… Continue

I almost didn't blog this for fear of being flamed but here goes.
I was only on the orphan list (had my reservation) for one month before I got my smart car. Everyone on the Round Rock Center's orphan list got an email last Sat. morning stating that they had a smart that was not ordered (reserved) and therefore not orphaned but available unencumbered and first come first served. I got the email 30 min after it was sent and I was out the door with all 4 kids and partner in tow 30 min… Continue

Well, tomorrow we're off to Round Rock smart Center for a few items. We need a sun shield for the windshield really badly, we're in Texas after all. We are gonna buy the rubber floor mats and probably make an appt. to get his windows tinted. I imagine that those are some of the most common upgrades people make. Here's a picture of the trunk organizer we're using until we find something more worthy.
We've both enjoyed talking about our little smart to people with questions at the… Continue

One of my favorite things is going around town with the top down in my Cabrio! The sacrfice is that we lose mileage because of it (less aero-dynamic, more wind drag), but I like to live on the wild and free side! hehehe!
I luv the fact that you can uncover the top with the remote key. One observation is that you have to put the key in the ignition in order to completely drop the back, additionally you have to have the key in the ignition in & hold the button down in order to lift… Continue
