we were emailed about a new Passsion of an unusual color that was unencumbered and we jumped on him, Sportacus, within 30 min. Here he is! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RbYL8MEoRlU

Our three-year-old loves the Smart car. I think I've mentioned this previously. The convertible top, the fact that she's sitting next to me, the size ("It's MY size, Mommy"), and the 6-CD changer that lets her alternate between Sharon, Lois and Brahm and Laurie Berkner at the touch of a button (my touch; her seat's way too far back to touch the dash with her hands although I've had to tell her that it's off limits anyway since she realized she can reach it with her toes).
And we talk… Continue

The latest barrage of inquiries, compliments, and random chats on the road at red lights have come from a surprising source: bicyclists and motorcyclists.
The former group used to annoy me. I say this knowing full well someone's going to flame me. I should clarify this by saying a) I love to ride my bike and b) that bicyclists who follow the rules of the road and stay in the right of the lane don't annoy me. The ones that used to annoy me (and still do) are the ones that cluster… Continue

Today was just Choc full of Smarts. I saw one just like mine around noon-ish at the Home Depot in Lindbergh Plaza. Later saw 2 BumbleBee's (Yellow & Black Stripe) at the Forum Shops in Alpharetta, and finally on my way home from the shops I saw a Blue & Grey Stripe on Peachtree Pkwy! Whoo hooo!! That's the most I've seen in One Day!…

So, here begins the written word for my quest for a smart car. I first became aware of the smart car in 99. I was fasinated by the little cute car. I live in Seattle on Capitol hill and parking has always been a consideration, I am sure its like that for most major cities. Back in the early days of desiring this vehicle, I tried to find a way to get one here in the US. I figured if they can get the really expensive cars brought over from Europe why cant I get a smart? None of the avenues I… Continue

Today went to lunch at a Sushi place just down the street. As I pulled up, a Japanese couple was walking into the restaurant. They stopped and watched me get out of the car.
He then said, in limited English..."Japanese car, very small"
I said, "No, Mercedes"
He and his wife both opened their eyes wide, then rushed over to my car, asked to sit inside, they both sat in it. Then the owner of the Sushi place rushed out, obviously a friend, and began to talk in rapid… Continue

I came out of the bank to find several people gathered around my car, gawking, pointing, asking questions. After they left, I turned and looked at the car parked next to me. Not a single person paid it any attention.
He shouldn't park that Jag so close to my Smart if he wants attention.…

I put this note in my window to help answer all the questions that I have been getting.
I was at the bank sitting with a loan officer. There were a lot of people coming and going. A woman walks up to me and says...
"I love your car"
"Thanks" I said..."how'd you know if was my car?"
"You're the only one in here over 6' so I knew it was your car"
WoW! She read my note, came inside and walked… Continue

I have been inducted. I am One of the few. The proud. The smart.
I was heading towards the freeway; he had just gotten off. We saw each other from a distance - two cars, identical in colour and model. Our roofs were both up; it looked like rain. As he passed me he flashed me a peace sign. I jumped up and down in my seat and waved excitedly back at him.
A fellow smart car driver on the road. I've heard they are out there but had not seen one. Until today.

Would love to know what owners of smart cars feel is the best things about their smart cars. Any feedback would be appreciated. Are these cars a fad or are they a smart alternative to a full size gas guzzler?

Morning Edition, June 18, 2008 · When oil prices go up, so do natural gas prices, and both increases have a ripple effect on the economy. Shampoo bottles, pantyhose, buttons — you name it, and it requires oil or gas to make it.

1) Pick your nose
2) Park too close to the inner end of a parking space
I don't actually go around picking my nose in my car. But it occurred to me today, after the second person in less than 5 minutes hung their head out the window of their SUV and gave me a thumbs up as they passed me in my smart car, that I'm being watched.
A guy at PCC and his wife actually got OUT of their own car and snapped a photo on his camera phone of me and Bobbin getting out of the smart… Continue

With about 3000 miles on my new smart (I commute in Montana about 50 miles round trip 5-6 days a week.), I am averaging 42 mpg city and about 52 on longer trips. I wonder if I might be the first person to run OUT OF GAS in my smart!! I was not paying attention to the gauge, and boom! OUt of gas! My friends laughed so hard! That's the only thing I wish was different---I wish the gas gauge would chime when it got down to the reserve amount in the tank. Just intermittently, not constantly. I am… Continue

I luv this site! It's awesome to read other people that have the same experiences! I've never had a car that has ever attracted the kind of attention that this car gets. It's a double edge sword but never dull.
From reading other people’s blogs, I've realized that we were very lucky in getting the Smart as quickly as we did. We literally took a look at them on a Sunday, and by the following Saturday, we owned one! We were smart enough to be on the orphaned list. From the sounds of… Continue

I filled up the tank on the Smart car for the first time June 18th. I thought it appropriate to post some stats.
I'd had the car for exactly 1 week before the last "gallon" dropped off the meter.
I'd put 290 miles on it by the time I rolled into the gas station.
I pumped 7.7 gallons into the 8 gallon tank, at a cost of $4.61 per gallon.
So I'm averaging about 37.6 mpg in the car so far, and about $35.50 a week in gas.
Compare that to the 18… Continue

We picked up our car June 11th after work. What a blast :-) My 3-year-old daughter was just head over heels giddy with the notion that she'd get to ride "up front" next to Mommy in her car seat. And when I put the convertible roof down after we got off the freeway, she was just beside herself. "Mommy! Look! Look up at the SKY!"
We logged over 50 miles before the first "gallon" disappeared from the 8-gallon indicator.
My husband's car is now officially up for sale so if you… Continue
