Now that i finally did it and signed up on the waiting list, I realize that i hate to wait. I have been waiting since 6/10 and it already feels like forever. Maybe it is my SoCal impatience, but this is worse than waiting at a red light on a side street. Does anyone know how long it really takes before you are behind the wheel, from the time that you signed up?
Please tell me it is within 6 months!!!

Only question to ask yourself on the election day is

We are getting really good at waiting. It's a good thing that we never run out of stuff to do. I expect to wait many more months for my smart, but in one respect, that's a good thing. I am more aware of what's going on in the auto manufacturing world - I can keep an eye on who's getting greener in production and recyclabilitiy, who's putting out new vehicles with better mileage, etc. Of course, the risk (to the smart corp) is that I'll find something better - great mileage, greener production,… Continue

Today i got my Smart car back from Chandler, AZ...that is a 2 hour drive from Tucson. I picked it up on 27 May and in the last week and a half was having occ. trouble with the gear shift stitcking. Finally on Friday morning I couldn't get it past neutral and also couldn't get it turned off or the key out! I called the Smart people and they sent a two truck. This morning the man told my husband that they have been trouble with that a lot because they should have been lubricated at the port and… Continue

I've had so many people ask me to keep them updated on how things are going with my smart fortwo. It's great that we have this site now and I can post a blog for them to check out when they like.
I've had my car for three months now and just turned over 6600 miles today. I've taken it on road trips and commuted with it every day. As an engineering consultant, I work out of the client's office most of the week, so 4 days a week I have a 10 mile commute to the client and on Friday's I… Continue

Just a few weeks ago I have added my first accessory to my vehicle. I decided to buy the divider for the Passion. At 1st, I thought it would be easy to install. As I open the box and begin to work on it, I realized this was not for a small city mechanic to do.
It required for you to remove all the panels from the rear roof of the vehicle. Then you have to use a template to position the holes for where you have to install the brackets. After installing the brackets, you must make sure… Continue

Well, the salesman told me that owning a smart would be like being a rock star! People would pay attention to me and gather round the smart. He was certainly right about that! I was followed through town and when I got to my destination, the car following me came right up behind me, and the lady driving said, "Hey we need to ask you some questions about your car. I am from the paper and we want to do an article on you and your new car!" The next week a half page article and a wonderful picture… Continue

what is the cost of the oil change @ the 10000 mile check up? Also, has anyone experienced any extra/hidden or added on costs?

I received delivery of my SMART in February, then hit the road to promote my new novel. 10,000 miles later and our love affair has only grown stronger... (Actually, I knew it would be this way - when living in Europe a few years back I was a SMART owner.) Today, my 10K check-up indicator came on. I've needed to get it in for service anyway - I keep forgetting to fully tighten my gas tank lid and the engine light is now permanently on. One of the the problems being an airheaded (420) author type… Continue

I chose my yellow and black Passion for the very distinct reason that I would prefer people looking at me and hitting some else!! It stands out a lot more than other colours on the highway here.
Secondly, does everyone have the issue of having to add about 15 minutes to each trip to stop and talk with people who are fascinated by this cutie?? Shouldn't we be on some sort of commission or point system for every conversion? Service discount, car wash?

How long have you waited to get your Smart? Unfortantely, I signed up in April and was told it may take up to six months. I'm still holding out hope that it won't be that long. I saw some people waitied over a year before taking delivery of their Smart.
I wonder why its taking so long for Smart cars to make it to the States. There are plenty of well established Mercedes dealership here and I would think that Mercedes would have no trouble running things smoothly. I haven't gotten a… Continue

I recently purchased our own Amethyste's CD "Ethereal" and was not only delighted by great music and her voice but also that our smart radio display's the CD info.
All of my older CDs only display the track number.
With Ethereal I see three full lines: Album name/Artist/Current Song name
The music really sounds great and the premium sound system really shines. I am glad I… Continue

As far as I know it, I am the highest mileage smart car in Michigan. I can honestly say, I have taken my car to the dealership for the maintenance. All the items the dealer check for me were needing replacement.
One thing I can say was after the maintanence, my smart car perform like the first day I got it. The cost for the dealership to do the work was very reasonable to me. The service was excellent.
You asked how did I get all those miles? Well, I travel over 132 miles… Continue

I thought I'd use this opportunity to blog about my experience buying a car from Smart Center Buffalo.
I got my e-mail from the General Manager in April, saying I'd be contacted by a sales rep in the next day or two. A week and a half later, no phone call received, I drove from Rochester to Buffalo for a test drive. I met my sales rep, Joe. My car was due in May, I was told, and after reserving it in May of 2007 (and longing for a smart since 1998), I was eager.
So I set… Continue
