Last week, as according to my photography duties as the Senior Editor of the yearbook, I was sent on a mission up to Cedar Rapids to shoot the Cross Country Supermeet. This meant not only the longest trip I had ever taken by myself, but also the longest trip my Smart had taken since being in Iowa. Having never driven myself more than 20 miles from my home, winding up and down the wilds of 218 seemed a daunting task, and even more so to my yearbook advisor.

i HAVE BEEN tryn to see if my smart really is good on gas. I dont drive it everyday but i have filled it up i thnk 3times. first time i notice that i didnt get the expected mileage, like 22mpg. but that was before i learned to drive it. and i jus read some stations gas is different. Now i drive manuelly and less a/c when desireable. With this last fill-up 8gallons supreme GAS, i got 65mile with 1 notch off the gasometer. Wow! i was amazed!!

Hi all. Just took my 'Elvis' for a long trip-4 hours to Saratoga Springs, NY- and it was wonderful. I kept track of my mileage and while I was expecting close to 50mpg, between the highway and the local trips to the track and shopping, I'm getting only about 38mpg. I met a fellow smartie and she said she gets about the same. That made me feel better, but I am a little disappointed. My tires, btw, are set at the factory 29 and 36. Any comments for me? Thanks. I'm due to drive home on Saturday. Lu

This was driving mostly at 70-75+ mph, and… Continue

I started an account on http://www.fuelly.com
a week ago and have entered all of my fuel-ups since getting my smart back on June 30th.
Hope others of you can join me on the site so we can compare our gas mileage!

I took a day trip to the west coast today. After filling up for the first time at an amazing $32.74 for 8.3 gallons of 92 octane, I plotted my TomTom to take me to Saugatuk by freeway, 94 miles one way. I did my freeway with a fair amount of ease, it took a bit of adjustment to get used to the wind and the gawking maneuvers of some of the other vehicles, but it was pure joy. I got to the park just in time to get some pictures of the lake as it started to sprinkle, and when I got back to the car… Continue
