Her name is Magnolia

Magnolia. It evokes memories of a southern summer day. Sitting in a shady spot outside, sipping sweet tea and the smell of magnolias in the air. Their beauty evoking visions of elegance and southern charm. So after much thought and personal debate, I decided to forgo the cutesy names. After driving her a few weeks the name Magnolia just fit her perfectly. Much like she picked her own name.

Nameless White Cabrio

Yesterday Allison called from the smart center dallas. She was offering to get me into a new 2009 for about the same payments as I'm making now on Blue Belle my 2008 Passion. I have quite the fondness for Blue Belle. Already upgraded her horn, added the fuel door cover overlay, lug nut covers that match her blue, and HID headlights. Plus she has accessories like the Lloyds floor mats, cargo cover and seat covers. She's almost perfect. Would be nice to have the upgraded leather package, upgraded… Continue

Been A While

Long time since I've visited the site. LOTS of messages to pour through.

So I've had Blue Belle for well over a year now. She's been to Gulfport Mississippi a couple of times, New Orleans Louisiana, Kansas, and a few other shorter trips. She drives like a champ!

I'm really very happy with Blue Belle. Made a few tweaks with an aftermarket horn and HID headlights. Also added the color matched fuel door cover and color matched lug caps. She's almost perfect. I've pampered her… Continue

Sonic Saturday in Central Texas

That's right Central Texas smart Club had our first SONIC SATURDAY Meet-n-Greet!

SONIC SATURDAY is where we pick a different SONIC location around the central Texas area, or even a few of them. Then between 2 - 4pm, if you live in that area, and want to show up and chat with ANY smarties that show, you can. We'll keep you posted on locations.

Finally Delivered

So after 18 months the smart fortwo that I reserved and configured finally came in. It came in last week and we picked it up on Friday. It's staying in the family just not in our garage or driveway. The man persons brother took delivery. I drove to Louisiana to pick him up and bring him to the Dallas dealership.

There is NO WAY I could have waited this long. I'm so glad I got my lil orphan Blue Belle when I did. Though I did see a lovely lil white cabriolet orphan on the floor there.… Continue

smart art

It only took me 6 months. But I finally painted Blue Belle. I guess it's because she's a car and not a glass a wine that it took so long. Yep. I paint wine. A big jump for me to have tried this. I have to admit I picked the easiest picture first. Here's the picture {kinda sorta} but it's been cropped for the motivational poster.

It's acrylic on canvas. Now I guess I'll have to try and… Continue

What To Expect ...

So the car I configured is coming in soon. And I'm trying to rack my brain about key points I should mention. I figure my post way back when about "Smart Car Dumb Questions" would be a good start. I'm starting this blog post to get a list for him based on my experiences. {And others experiences if anyone cares to chime in.} He's in a small town in the middle of Louisiana and there's only one other one that he knows of near him. So he'll still get lots of attention.

I'm in Dallas/Fort… Continue

I Can't Believe It .... {another mpg post}

Ever been one of those folks on a forum hearing how folks are getting great mpg but for the life of you .... you can't manage to get near the top folks? I'm usually the one scratching my head and beating the keyboard screaming and muttering about my mpg in comparison.

I have to admit there have been a few times I worried about Belle.

I have tracked each and every single solitary fillup. Every drop. Every penny. I keep an Excel file on my computer. It's got the formula's in… Continue

Luv My Orphan

So back in April {on the 20th to be exact} I adopted my Blue Belle. Belle has been a lil gem. I like to think of her as my lil sapphire. ~soft smiles~

Last month we got a call from our local dealership ... the 30 day call. ~stiffeled giggles~ Already they called to move the delivery date. For those who don't know .... The 30 day window of pick up starts from the call NOT from delivery at the dealership.

So I have the orphan. Part of me… Continue

My Lovelies - Wet Okole

Ooooh, they came in the mail. My sweet and lovely Wet Okole smart seat covers.

Due to the nature of our smart car purchase (not an orphan, not reserved) we didn't really have the choice of interior styling. We got what we got. I'm not sure we would have chosen leather (we are divided on leather) but it was obvious that the cloth seats were not going to hold up to the drivers (one bear and one otter) plus 4 kids under 10, and 2 teenagers (all occasional riders). So we… Continue

Neighbor recognized the car and not me!

Last night we went to dinner with some friends. These friends happened to have tickets to the Rangers baseball game. We met for dinner at Mercado Juarez near the ballpark. Since he had a parking pass I was going to leave my car at the restaurant and we were going to ride to the stadium with them. Of course the restaurant had up a "Towing Enforced" sign.

Then I saw a familiar face. Looked like the neighbor across the street in front of our house. Though I've only met him once. I see… Continue

Back from Sturgis, SD and Helena MT

I can't remember exactly where it was the siting was made. It was on the way leaving Sturgis, SD and heading for Helena, MT. Here's the first distant glimpse and a road sign.

And saw my first smart in the wild. Here it is as we pass. I was waving like a silly fool. He looked at me like I was stoopid.

Then for a bit it was behind us.…

Suggestions for meet?

Gettin' ready for the first Central Texas Meet-n-Drive I got my windows tinted and figured out where to put the kids (ha ha). We have 19 smart cars confirmed for the "run", as motorcycle clubs call it, so I better wash my smart and have it lookin' good. I'm a little nervous about the run since I organized it. I hope everyone shows up and I hope they enjoy it. Any suggestions from y'all would be greatly appreciated. I'll take lots of pictures and post them asap. Wish us…

First Central Texas meet-n-drive planned (July 19th)

I LOVE driving my smart sooo much that I planned the first Central Texas meet-n-drive. Finally a Central Texas Cruise. An Austin meet-n-drive. The first one! Saturday July 19th. We'll meet on the deck of Central Market North (CM) at 10am, chat-n-snack a little, then drive. We have a terrific photo op planned for our short drive (send me a private email and I'll divulge the secret). We'll drive a little around Austin, see and be seen by the natives then end the ride at CM (or nearby school… Continue

Turning heads! Driving is fun again!

Today was so cool! I LOVE driving this car! I was driving around Austin and had LOTS of people stop, stare and smile. Lot's of drivers turing their heads too. The coolest ones were the pacers. A silver corvette paced me to look while I was on the highway and so did a tricked out red (with flames) convertible mustang, but the very best was from the Durango driver who actually leaned out his window to look. Driving is fun again, even without the attention. It handles well, I lOVE the transmission… Continue
