Hello all, I just ordered some winter tires from the tire rack (I know I am a little late, but I didn't think we were going to drive Lewis into the mountains in the Winter, but with my wife's ski-coaching job I have those "widower days" where we can use a second winterworthy car). Although I am not affiliated with the tire rack I thought I'd tell everyone that they have some killer closeout deals on bridgestone blizzaks ... Now for a question. How long a snowboard will I be able to fit inside… Continue

... is this the coolest thing, or what? Not cheap (!), but after ogling the scangauge for a while and not really seeing any clean/uncompromising install option this may be it ...
Just waiting until someone tries it out and they post English/installation instructions.
Disclaimer: I have NO financial stake or interested in MDC (or in fact any affiliation whatsoever).

My smart got "re-decorated" by a Lady in a (brand-new, no less) BMW 3-series last night on the way home, so the best I am hoping for now, is that it can and will be fixed soon.
It dented the driver side tridion pretty good. At least I am fine and here to b*tch about it ... When the sign says "no-double-turn" how would you interpret that? ... am I bitter? ... you bet.
I would like anybody's suggestions though on what to look out for when it comes to repairs of the smart and… Continue

Is/has there been such a thing? If not: Are other smart owner groups interested to organize one for spring/summer 2009? Maybe at Penske's headquarters?

Dear fellow smarties,
We all appreciate how nimble and easy to park our smarts are, but I have yet to hear (let alone see) of any initiatives or special parking spaces specifically provided for smart people in the US.
I am curious to know whether any of you have started such efforts or know someone who has and what advice my stem from that?

As I was waiting at the car-wash the other day and silently contemplating in my mind that I had to pay the same to get my smart washed while there clearly is only about half as much car to clean I also remembered my first attempt driving through an automated carwash where the rear barely got hit by water and the passenger side was pretty far away from the nozzles while the poor computer was re-calibrating every few seconds. Now: The 60 second dryer worked wonderfully (I didn't even need the… Continue

... and he sounds pretty mean :-). He is not as quiet as he used to be, but at about 70 miles an hour the engine now matches the tire noise (he also is supposed to have 6 more hp and 14 more Nm torque - hard to tell whether that's true) so long highway trips should be insignificantly noisier than before and in town he commands a little more respect (without being annoyingly loud).
The new exhaust also is significantly lighter than the stock and the stainless steel is very pretty. Now… Continue

So: I took Lewis H up to Breckenridge (Colorado) from Denver (Colorado) two days ago (and back) and he did great. (Two people, stone samples and presentation boards included).
I am learning the paddle shifting quickly and I did downshift to 3rd on a couple of hills going about 60-65 mph. On most uphills 4th worked great (somewhere around 70 mph), but shifting early and often helps a lot. I was even running the AC for a good chunk of time on the way up.
Adding a few miles… Continue

looking for more of smart owners in Colorado (especially the greater Denver area) for drives, meets, or anything else fun revolving around our smarts. Check out our group of now 6 (six!) members and sign up. My rough (unscientific) estimates tell me there should be about 400-500 owners you got their cars from the Denver smartcenter. I know the smarts are small and easy to hide, but don't be shy ... tobias (proud owner of "Lewis H" since July 26th 2008)

... so: I love my new smart ("Lewis Hambach") and I am glad it has a line-in in the glove compartment for my ipod, but also owning a Honda Element (yes, I know, I love quirky cars with drop down tailgates) which has a power source right next to the "aux" plug and thus allows the ipod to charge while playing tunes through a Belkin adapter, I am looking for a similar solution for the smart without having to run cables all over/under the dash board and to the power supply from the glove box. Any… Continue
