Does anyone know if the 2008 lift gate can be retro fitted to be power -- reasonably priced?

Thank you for promoting the smart.  The smart center I worked at for 6 months has no enthusiasm for the product.  In fact, checking their web site, they show only six cars in stock, all 2010.

So when can I trade up? I love everything about this car! The new stereo, gauges, cruise, body panels(not a fan of the new blue, but oh well), and I miss the paddle shifters!

The audio input and USB jacks are in the glove box, while they put a drawer right under the radio??? That really doesn't make any sense to me. The little drawer is the perfect place for an iPod or mp3 player. If I had that setup, those jacks would get moved.

The iPod and USB ports are in the glove box, not the drawer.  I was originally upset that it would not have CD but when I found out it has USB to read memory sticks, I was very happy.  I can load a memory stick with plenty of music and I don't have to carry a bunch of CDs.  I think it is also more convenient that the iPod.  Easier to transfer music no worries about power.

Power liftgate sounds awesome!

Great pictures of the 2011 model. I saw two up close at Tysons Smart center and i am very impressed with the improvements. Now if Smart USA would do some serious advertising they sell more of these little gems.

When you say the back lift gate is powered, do you mean the locking mech is powered? You don't mean that it electronically slides up and down/open and closed, something like that, do you?

I really love the drawer under the radio! I presume the aux input is right there for one to put an iPod or other external device - and it has a USB input as well?? Way cool.

Yes it IS missing the Paddle shifters, Which I'm ok with. From the hundreds of Smart owners I've talked to, Most seem to use the shifter to shift if even at all. Also, Notice Anything different about the radio? The 2nd to last picture is showing one of the two speakers from the surround sound feature. One my my favorite things is the fact that the back lift gate is powered now, much like the convertables.... Anyway, if you have any other questions about the 2011 feel free to ask!
