I just got a new 2010 smart and my insurance went up $2 for same coverage as my former 2000 malibu. I can pay $10/mo more to get Geico's 7yr/100,000 mile mechanical breakdown warranty too

I had a 6 year old pontiac sunfire before the I got my smart. My rate actually went down slightly on the new smart. Nice and cheap.

So many varibles to give really accurate info.  Your age, driving record, credit rating, where you live, etc.  I have my car through AARP, the Hartford.  I pay just over $400.00 per year, live in Florida, am 64 with an excellent driving record.

We are insured by State Farm with multiple vehicles and our smart costs us just under $31.00 a month
