Our little car was delivered in Feb 08. We purchased it as a toy to replace our Miata. We love Microcars, and as this is the first new Microcar sold in the US in decades, we jumped right on it.

Then the Gas went sky high, so as an experiment we decided to try Smartie as a business/work car (we run around 30k a year on our work cars).

We expected the little car to fail the test in reliability, and not be comfortable enough for regular 300 mile work days. Our expectations turned out to be correct. The car was a PIA in the beginning, not in comfort :o) , but in reliabilty.

Shifter lock up was the main problem. Being stranded miles from home in a parking lot with the usual group of lookers gathered around was embarrassing, to say the least.
And this, of course, comes after a 15 min pitch on what a wonderful car the Smart is and how they can all buy one... :o)

Once my wife learned to release the locked up shifter without service having to send a tow truck, it all began to go smoothly. She even learned to reach under the side of the drivers seat while seated, and trip the lever without getting out of the car.

Smart Bloomfield gave us suburb service, and two separate causes for lock up were solved. (shifter box and brake light switch ).

Now after many miles we can now say this car is making a fine work car. Very comfortable, reliable, and most of all... Fun To Drive.,, :o) Hope you enjoy yours too... Regards, Nancy and A2Jack.
