This is a blog about everything that has been done, modifications and accessories, to my smart car.

My windshield is tinted. There was a concern about placing any "window" stickers on the tint film. I believe I have a solution. The 2008 Annual Metropark pass must be attached to the inside of the windshield which would mean "sticking" to the tint film. What I did was "stick" the annual pass to a flat wrinkle-free piece of Saran plastic wrap. Then I trimmed the excess Saran wrap around the annual pass. It does not 'cling' well at this point. I then sprayed water onto the face of the annual pass, pushed it against the windshield and squeegee it flat (no air trapped). Squeezing out all air and water. It has been on the windshield for 8 days now. So far so good. I will keep this blog updated as to the performance of this type of application.

Camping Chairs
Sam's Club
Cost: $19.99 + tax
The 2 camping chairs just fit into the cargo area.
These chairs are rated to 300 lbs. and better engineered than most 225 lbs rated chairs.
I purchased the Red/Black chairs to match my smart car. I wanted to have them embroidered, but camping chairs are not designed to let you do that. But I have an idea to beat the system. Stay tuned!

If you go to my bike rack blog you can see each step of the way of what I'll be doing. If it should fail, I'll post that too. What kind of a recumbent do you have? You may be able to use my design for your bike. Over the past 3 weeks I have designed and redesigned several times. To take out weight and SIMPLIFY the rack. My dilemma is to accommodate 2 different bikes with one rack. Thus reducing the overall cost.

Thanks... I forgot to put that into my smart IMPROVEMENTS. It will have to an April Fools Accessory. I'll shoot a better picture and post the info.

Once when I was at a gas station, FILLING up my smart, a guy asked if that car was electric. As soon as I was done... I headed to Wal-Mart to buy a cord to hang out the rear.

Glad you enjoyed the gag.

I am tying to keep my cost to a minimum.

The tires are the same ones that came with my smart. There was only 8,000 miles on them, so I reused them. Belle Tire also put tape on the powder coat wheels to prevent any scratches or nicks.

I emailed 6 powder coating companies and most were $80 - $100 a wheel. H&H said $35 plus sand blasting if needed (he would need to look at them to decide) and for a color they carry in stock. If they didn't carry the color in stock add $10 to the final bill.

H&H gave me some advice, that is the main reason I went to them and it they happen to be the least expensive.

I wanted to match my color, red. They pulled out all kinds of paint chips and brochures but could only come close. He said if it didn't match I won't like it. So make it NOT match of have it painted to match. I went black in case I ever change my body panels again.

I asked about powder coating the brakes and he advised against it. Said I should paint instead. All the others powder coating companies offered no advice for me. I contacted my mechanic and he agreed with H&H. Powder coating is good only to 450 degrees, brake paint is rated to 900 degrees.

So far the small antenna works fine. Just on AM, if I listen I extend it. But most of my stations are close. I stay mainly within the Detroit metro area. When I travel to Disney for vacation, I only listen to "Disney Records" music. So my iPod will be use then.

DId you change tires or just have them removed and installed to powder coat the wheel? If changed, what tires did you buy? I'm looking to change my tires without changing the wheels. There's not much if anything else out there but the conti's.
