Still having a LOT of fun with SunnyD. Who was asking about funny parking stories? I sure have one. After a dr appointment the other day, I returned to work. I decided to back into a parking space. I parked, decided I was too close to the line on the left, so pulled forward and re-parked. Satisfied, I got out of the car, ready to lock, but found I was parked cater-corner in the lines! Thinking to myself, "now I KNOW I'm senile". So got back in the car, pulled forward, and re-positioned the car again. This time I discovered I was way too close to the line on the right, but decided to leave the car where it was. Something gave me the feeling I was being watched. Sure enough, when I got to the office and opened the door, all my team mates were there, and much to my chagrin, I got a round of applause! I got razzed about not being able to park a little tiny smart car straight! They still laugh about that.

I also find myself repositioning the car when I park. I am a nut about getting it straight in the lines. I am definitely going to try the horizontal thing. My coworkers will freak out!

I still can't resist parking horizontal in standard parking spaces. The Mall, Wal-Mart, ect are "best". People just "double take", then start laughing.

Every time I do this they ask if it's electric. If I park "normal" they ask about mileage. l found that odd.
Backing into parrallel parking spots, with "nose out" is fun too. Be careful if you do this. Save it for slow, low volumne streets. I need a partner to share the other 1/2 though. hee hee ha ha ha

I still have crowds of co-workers around my car at lunch time. I've offered to give rides but most people are too embarrassed. I've had LOTS of practice backing my smartacus into the garage. I'm getting pretty good at it. It's a tight git all around but I feel so much better having it put away at night.

Isn't it great!? I gave everyone a ride or a drive as I work in a small office, and I think some of them love the car almost more than I do. They used to direct visitors to our office by telling them to watch for the big yellow Aztek, and now they tell them to watch for the little yellow micro. I used to always know where my SUV was in the big store lots by the bright yellow color, now I just look for a group of curious bystanders.
