The extended warranty offered by my Smart dealer seems very expensive. I was thinking of buying an extended warranty from a third party service, specifically Warranty Direct of Uniondale NY. Has anyone had any experiences good or bad with this service? Has anyone declined the Smart warranty because of the expense?

I NEVER buy extended warranties on ANYthing! but I bought this one. The thing that sold me was from the closer..."it's a new car to the US. No one will be trained yet on how to work on it, so you really want to bring it into us. We are a Mercedes dealership...do you know how much Mercedes mechanics can charge???"

Well, that and the fact that RED 4 LYF will be my daughter's car when she turns 16...I figured the coverage was my gift to her. (She's buying the car at 50% of Blue Book in 18 months...)

i agree with glsonn on that one. remember with smart you don't have to buy it right away you have up to a year or 10,000 miles as long as you buy it before then your good to go i plan on buying it

It seems like they sell for about 300 per extra year purchased. This seems pretty reasonable to me. I have been quoted double that on other car purchases.
