Yes it is the large and yes it does have a nasty smell when you first get it. I set mine on the back porch for a couple days and the smell went away.I love the handles on the ends so I can lift it out even if it is full of stuff.

Kathleen - yes, it's the large, I got mine a week ago and LOVE it.

Don - there's a noticeable chemical odor when you open the box. I put mine in the garage for the weekend, and it was fine by the time I put it in the Smart for Monday's drive to work.

I just received mine today from Amazon.com - I got free shipping so the total with tax was $54. it is out on the deck to air out for a few days to get rid of the odor.
