One week old and a gravel ding on the hood.

Driving home this week my smart was showered by gravel on the Interstate, got a couple of gravel dings on the hood. Has anyone polished dings out? They aren't deep, just noticable on the black hood.
If anyone has suggestions or experience with dings, please tell me how you fixed them. On a painted metal surface I paint or buff out, just don't know on plastic.

Polyurethane's melting point is just below 300 degrees. With a hot iron tool (model plane type) you could smooth out the nick. You have to have some skill to do this but if it really bothers you, take off the hood and try at a medium setting on the inside where you can learn how much heat you need to soften but not scorch the polyurethane. But remember, this could cause more damage it if you are not careful.

Try KIT brand Scratch Out or any brand of plastic and plexiglas polish and cleaner.

Sorry to hear about your dings !!! EVERY car I have ever owned has gotten hit with debri on the freeway. I hate that!!! I had a white Saturn that got a long crease on the driver side fender, your post reminded me of that...
You might consider taking your car to an automobile detailer, and asking their opinion.
But...what's to keep it from happening again?
My wife's Smart has the clear bra thingy on front. It will be interesting to see how it works over the years.
