Well, the first meet and greet for 2009 has been completed! We had 11 Smarts show up with a total of about 19 people for a nice viewing of our cars and lunch at Chuy's. For those of you that do not know Chuy's, it is a local Tex-Mex restaurant that serves up hot salsa and a creamy jalapeno dip that is one of my favorites. (If you are really health conscientious, try the Elvis chicken fried chicken. A chicken breast battered in potato chips and deep fried! Mmmm!)
We are a motley crew of Smarties in all different sorts of professions but we have one thing in common, we all love our Smart Cars! Many of the upgrades and aftermarket modifications were discussed including -
Wheel and rim swaps
Sirius addition to the stereo
As we are not officially a group yet, I would like to ask all of you to come up with a name for our club. It should be shorter than the "Houston Smart Car Club" and would be nice if it were a catchy name or accronym. Daniel has suggested we make a sticker for our windshields so we can identify ourselves easier. (As if we don't already stick out as it is.) So if you also have an idea for a logo, please post it along with your idea for a name for the club. We will vote on the name at our next meet and greet, possibly in April of 09.
Everyone has suggested that they would like to meet up somewhere for the showing of our cars, then drive to another location together for a quick bite and/or a few drinks. I think this would be a great idea; the thought of 20 Smart cars on the road going somewhere just brings a smile to my face! So I will look for some place where we can do just that. Look for future posts for time and location.
Thank you to all for attending to make this meeting a fun one; it was wonderful to meet you all!
