Following up on my previous post (below), the dealer called today to confirm that it was a year since the car was built--and yes, the date in the door is 12/07. Since I have nearly 9000 miles on it, he suggested we go ahead and schedule the one-year maintenance to replace fluids, filters and oil. So I'll go in on Wednesday (weather permitting) -- and, my little blackie really needs a car wash, so I'm glad to go and let them do that as well!

Original post:
Hmmm...two days ago a little wrench light showed up on my dash, with a -1 up in the mileage. (it has 8890 miles on it) The next day it showed up with a -2. Looking in my manual, it said this is a "needs maintenance" light. I'll touch base with the dealer, but anyone out there want to make a guess at what it is from your own experience?

I'll report what the dealer says once I know!

Yep, since I've had the car out in the dusty desert (Arizona) and high altitudes (Colorado) over the summer, as well as all this city driving in Chicago, I figure the filters & oil could use a change early anyways. Let's see if the blizzard has blown over by Wed. so I can take it in!

Open the drivers side door. The build date is on a label at the end of the door. It has probably been a year since it was built. There's a good chance thats the reason for the light.

It could be a year since the build date, since I took delivery on Feb. 27, 2008. So if you figure ship time, and that it would have been at the dealer for a bit (it was an orphan) before I got it--this could be the answer. I'll let you know what the dealer says later this week.

Is your car a year old, perchance? The service light also comes on after a year, even if you haven't hit 10,000 miles? Also, there've been reports on other forums that the dealers sometimes forget to reset the service light before delivering the car - if they do, the service indicator will go on 1 year after the car's build date.
