I'm moving. Across country. And I've rented a big truck that can tow a car hauler (the one you drive the car onto). My thinking is that it is big enough to pull both of my Smarts onto it.

Has anyone had any experience with the U-Haul car hauler and a Smart?

I hauled my Passion coupe 1000 miles with a QX-4 INFINITI. NO PROBLEM AT ALL.

thanks so much for all the great suggestions! :)
Turns out the the car hauler we rented from u-haul was to short to put them both on it :(

the only thing about putting them togather there will be damage.. i have tried that before with race cars and they have alot stiffer springs and they still move. 2" between and tied down and you won't have any paint damage. I did check and u-haul says the smart will fit but you will have to make longer ramps so the low ground clearance won't stop you from loading. don't have to make anything fancy. a small hill on your driveway will work anything to make the ramp angle a little flatter.

Great points! I do have two tow hooks for each and will get some ratcheting straps. I also have two of the foam ceiling cushions that I removed from one of the Smarts. I could use those as padding! :)

there are two things you need to check.. first the u-haul is open in the center so make sure the wheel base will fit the rails and how are you going to tie the second one down? the front one you can use the straps on the front but you don't wanting them bumping each other on the trip so you have to figure out how to keep the second one in place.I use to work for u-haul and i don't think the weight will be an issue but word of caution go look at the trl and talk to the dealer about your concern if one will fit. maybe the dealer will let you try and load it at the dealership to see. i don't think it will be listed in their system so a u-haul center will be no help cause if it's not in the system they can't answer. find an old dealer and they are more willing to help.
