No shelter for my Smart

Hi anyone out there who has had their Smart for a while who doesn't have shelter for it? Wondered if you had any issues with the finish due to weather events. We live in Kansas so the weather changes daily, sometimes hourly, with wild swings in temperature, rain, wind, sun, hail, ice, snow, you name it.

We probably won't have any place to put our Smart inside when we do get it, probably April, will be soft top cabriolet. We live just off the highway, but do have gravel roads for a few blocks. We hope to get shelter for it by end of Summer.

Comment by Eric on January 29, 2009 at 11:58pm: I park my car in the open with no shelter every night as im on a gravel driveway. No issues with the paint at all. The inside however does get it's share of spills from my water bottle. However, NOBODY SMOKES IN MY CAR PERIOD.

Comment by epbrown01 on January 29, 2009 at 5:59am: It's a car - it can take it. Mine sits out on Chicago streets daily and it's fine, weather-wise. Some knucklehead scraped my rear bumper already, but that's Chicago drivers for you they drive by feel rather than actually looking.

Comment by Leslie on January 28, 2009 at 5:06pm: I have indoor cats, and an outdoor Smart car. Right now, it is a big, blue salt lick. No issues so far - I think I do more damage to the inside, loading it up every weekend for trips back and forth from PA to NJ.

Since Boston has four seasons (some would argue about the true existence of spring), bumbl (yellow/black cabrio) sits right out there ever since May 5th. I put some high tech polish/ sealer on her and she appears to be fine. I brought her to an automatic car wash for the first time last week to get the salt off and she just sparkled. The only caveat might be that the yellow panels are "solid" yellow - no paint. I wouldn't think you'd have a problem, especially if you will have a shelter by the fall.
