Here's a little something I did to my Smartcar. At night I was having an issue on finding some things I placed into the trunk area. So I read about this idea someone else had and to my amazement I found the perfect lights that match my interior. They are made by Sylvania lighting and called DOT-IT LIGHTS. They come in 7 different colors and there website is http://www.sylvaniaonlinestore.com/. Above are the pics of what they look like in side my smart.

I cant get my dot-its to stay on. I really didn't want to drill and all that. The velcro works great, the adhesive dosnt. I even used outdoor mounting tape, the same stuff that holds my doorbel up, and it will not stay up. Nothing sticks to the sides or top for long. My guess is that you have a cabrio and the roll bar lets things adhear better than the texture of the rest of the hard surface in the luggage area. And you live in a low heat/humidity area?

If you search 'trunk lghts' on this site, there is a guy who posted a very detailed step-by-step for installing LED's in your trunk, and they work with the dome light. I am hoping to rope my crafty brother-in-law into installing them for me!

The DOT-IT lights come with a thin piece of adhesive. Its not the greatest and doesn't hold up to good. So I went out and purchased the 3M command poster strips. The strips can be easily removed without leaving any sticky glue or damaging the interior.

not a bad idea. only one thing i can figure out that's wrong with it though. should you ever have to replace the batteries, the only way to get at them as far as i know is by unscrewing the back.... which right now is plastered to the roof of your car.

I'd almost think you'd be better off having just figured out some way to wire an ultrabrite LED or two in the back.

I work in a Home depot and will look fo them again. The sliver ones would match my cars interior.

Just got 4 black ones for the black leather interior. Look nice and work just great. Got them from sylvaniaonline.com.

Those look like a great idea. Too bad the Sylvania website looks like it no longer carries them in blue. I'm guessing white or silver would be a good match for the interior plastic molding though.

I purchased the DOT-IT lights thru the sylvania website because that was the only place to buy the red lights. Every other place like HomeDepot and Lowes only sold the plain silver ones. FYI- shipping was rather quick.

Did you buy directly from teh website? I found one I like on there: The wide one that swivels but I can get them elsewhere, I would rather do so.
