So, as if my husband backing into my Smart this weekend wasn't bad enough (minor cosmetic damage, and he felt HORRIBLE about it), my pesky check engine light is on again.
Granted, I can always get an immediate appointment, and the Smart Service Center in Edison is wonderful (the perks of being associated with MB), but, it is almost an hour drive each way, and I have to take time off from work to go.
This is the third trip in as many months - the first time was to have the check engine light checked out, the second was to have a part installed pursuant to the first visit.
I am hoping this is the last time I'll have to go for a long while. I guess while I'm there, I might as well ask about a new front quarter panel. :-\

There is actually a fix and it affects some vehicles. I know, because I have one of the 1st 2009's. My A+ Awesome mechanic (dealership) in Orlando worked tirelessly to resolve my problem, and worked with Smart to resolve it. I would recommend that your dealership contact Orlando and ask what they did, because it is an easy fix, and it has completely solved my problem.

I will report that it happened again, and I tightened the gas cap. You have to turn the car off and on again for it to take effect, but it did the trick. So my question is, WHY is there a 'gas cap is loose' light if only the 'check engine' light is going to come on?!?!?? Very annoying.

My "check engine" light came on for the third time in as many weeks! The first time it went off by itself, the second time the dealer turned it off saying was a computer module malfunction. Now what? This is getting old. Anyone else had this problem?
