The Lost Skate took a stone hit in San Diego last Monday in a violent rainstorm... I learned a few things about Smart glass and happiness is not having the rain sensor with regard to price, holy-cow! Safelite online was as easy as it gets and the PPG glass they installed was tip-top in quality. I do have a caution to share if you've not had the pleasure of replacing the windshield: Be sure the technician insulates the pivot screw on his right angle knife as it will scratch the window post. I've posted a photo on my page of the effort, look closely at the lower left quadrant and you'll see the scratch happening. Aside from that undesireable event the effort was well executed.

Hey Mike, yes we do the same thing here and actually had both windows down an inch. I'm going to go through my warranty and give SMART a call. Thanks-Rick

Where I live in the Cal Hi Desert, we get extreme temps too. I haven't heard of any issues yet but I do know from years of experience that we leave a window rolled down a bit to balance pressure while the car heats up on the inside.

going to work today (temp 85degrees) had cleaned windows outside only. going home from work took sunscreens down, big crack from bottom pass. side up to and across windshield. (temp was 104+ degrees) anybody else having this occur? kinda worried this maybe related to recall. I live in AZ and it is going to get alot hotter than this

A stone hit my windshield in Arizona last summer, and the crack kept spreading across the eye-level line all the way back to Chicago! Yes, a little sticker-shock on getting the replacement, but my insurance company at least appreciated that the dealer had to do it instead of some generic company. My dealer did a great job--kept it overnight so the seal wouldn't be compromised and gave me a boat of a Mercedes loaner!
