I ordered a blue Passion Cabriolet, and expected to wait at least 3 more months. The dealer in Sarasota, FL got in a red one, exactly like I wanted except for the color. When I saw the car, I bought it, and now I love red.

Hey Dave,
I can completely understand your frustration, I waited 14 months for mine and finally got it 3 days ago. The DDE was a joke, it changed just about daily. Once you get the 90 days call from your dealer, you will know better. You did not say if you have configured your smart. Did you? If I was you I would call smart and ask which of the smart centers in your area will be yours. Then get to know the people at the center, they are a lot more helpful than the 1.800 representatives. Good luck. I can tell you that they wait was definitely worth it. I am having a ball with mine.

We got a great orphan Cabrio instead of waiting and got our $99 back. There seem to be alot more orphans out there nowadays. Check the dealers. Got an '09 off the floor for the '08 price!

Hey Dave - you are one patient man!!!!

Good things happen to those who wait.
Keep us informed...we are all cheering for you.
For me, part of the joy of purchasing anything is the joy of the hunt, ya know?
I put my $99 down in August 2008, so I have not been waiting nearly as long as you.
At this point, I have not even been notified to configure the car.
Good thing though... I keep changing my mind about what color I want, LOL.
Currently, I want a white/black passion with the comfort package.
But....those Pure's - with their hubcaps look kinda funky !!!
I like the hubcaps!!!
However, my wife has a smart, and I like to play with the paddles on the steering wheel - so I guess I am gonna go with the passion.

Best Regards,

Hi, Just a word of note. I hope this may be a bit comforting. I have done extensive reading on these websites and have found other owners have waited quite some time. You have a DDE with exact dates. What this means is that the dealer should receive the vehicle 30 days + 7 days or so (allowing for customs clearance and over the road shipping missteps) from the first date in your DDE. In this case February 11th. The dealer has an R-11 printout that lists all of the pertinent data including the VIN which can also be used to track the shipment over seas on WWL shipping lines. Thus, it could be expected in the dealers's garage by March 11th. You can go to WWL's website and track it under the cargo ID search box. Just enter the VIN provided by your dealer. The progress is updated every 6 hours across the pond. The likely port of entry for you would be Galveston, TX. WWL shipping doesn't make as many trips there as they do Baltimore, MD. I have seen where WWL has as many as 16 to 20 visits per month to Baltimore. Their ships carry as many as 7500 vehicles at a time. They have over 60 vessels. Once on land I know that here in Michigan the dealer uses Bavarian Motor Freight to transport the vehicles. Or sometimes they may use Reliable Vehicle Transport. Either way the cars are completely enclosed in a trailer, safe from the elements. With all of that being said, contact the dealer ASAP. I am sure he/she has all of the necessary information for you. Woo Hoo!! I can't wait for my DDE to climb out of the "can't be estimated" zone. The wait is becoming unbearable.

Took me 16 months to get mine here in Houston. Ordered August 2007 and received it in December 2008. It was well worth the wait!!! In the meantime there are orphans available so it might be worth a trip to your local dealer.
