My gas guage doesn't read full on fill ups. Only 7 boxes light up and then after about 50 miles the 8th box lights up. I have had several service adjustments but the problem is still there.

I have a Passion 08 and had a similar problem. Just had my 10.000 mile service done at the Manhattan dealership and got a software update for the fuel gauge and transmission. So far it the problem seems fixed. I usually get 270-280 miles on one tank in the city. Also got 320 a few times.

Go to the dealer. Make sure they have the January 09 software from Smart in their computer. Also make sure add in 1083 is in the software. The tech will know what I mean by addin 1083. The fuel indicator parameterized fix is in that version of software and addin. It will fix the problem.

Hey. what do you know, after my first fill up, the gauge went to 8/8th's. So problem was self correcting for me. Hope yours is fixed as easily.

I have found filling slowly really helps. At least the last gallon or so.

My 08 has always done this-I was told that when you filled the tank, it took a little driving to refill the reserve section before the gauge would show full. ???? None the less, I agree with the others-as long as it's on the top end, it doesn't bother me.

Yes Bill, I filled my motorscooter tank for 20 cents, my motorcycle tank for 75 cents, and my "big" V8 automobile for 2 bucks!

It happened to me one time. Don't know why either....

My gas gage did the same thing. I found if you slow the flow for the last couple of gallons, the gage will show full.

Picked my smart up last week and the dealer told me about the problem before I left the lot. He said the problem was being addressed and that a fix for the '09s is in the works but not available yet.

If I fill up in the slowest setting on the gas pump and wait till it clicks off then stop, the gauge will read full. If I try to put more gas in, the gauge will go down to 7/8ths. Hope this helps.
