SMART CAR HAS PLENTY OF ROOM FOR NORDIC WALKING POLES AND 206 CM CROSS COUNTRY SKIS

My 206 cm Salomon classic Nordic (cross country) skis and Swix Nordic (cross country) poles fit just great in my Smart Car. There is even room for my 12-year-old son and his Nordic ski gear. I can also fit 60 pairs of Nordic Walking Poles in my new SMART car as I travel around hosting Nordic Walking Clinics.

We have had great snow for Nordic Skiing - cross country skiing here in northern Michigan. We have been cross country skiing everyday since Nov. 17th!

The SMART Car is fantastic in the snow and we have had tons of snow so far this season. It is also FUN to drive!

I picked up my SMART Car in August down in the Detroit area - 5 hours south. The SMART car is inexpensive like the old VW Beetle, good in the snow and FUN to drive, but that is where the similarities to the old VW Beetle end. The SMART Car has a 5 Star crash rating, gets almost 50 mpg and has a super heater/defroster. I have snow tires on my SMART Car and all SMART Cars are equipped with ESP (anti skid) and anti-lock brakes – good stuff for winter driving!

We love our new SMART Car so much we order another one - 12 month plus waiting period (bummer).

Think snow and have FUN xc skiing, Nordic Walking and driving!

For Big snow we take our Honda Element too - both are great vehicles! The Honda Element is my favorite 4-Wheel Drive vehicle. The Honda Fit is my favorite 5 seater/family car (also great in the snow). And the SMART Car is the Funnest of them all.

So Cool.

My wife has loaded her ski's into the smart this past Winter (she coached high-school x-country skiing). She loves the heated seats, but she wasn't always daring to take the smart on heavy snow days (she takes the Honda Element on those).

Maybe winter tires would make it possible for us (we are located in Colorado and drive up to the mountains frequently).

I took the smart over the highest pass in Colorado last summer (see my gallery). In winter we are a little worried about high centering the smart in deep snow.

My 206cm Salomon "classic" cross country skis + SWIX poles + his shorter skis + poles fit between the seats (a little bit diagonally), but he has plenty of legroom just the same. I usually ski with him after school (he comes to my high school ski team practices). When my wife gets home from work we usually strap on headlights and go again - she fits just fine in the passenger seat with both sets of equipment too.

With snow tires on we get around fine.

I can see how you could fit the skis and poles by folding down the passenger seat. How are you doing it with your son in the car? Are you sliding the skis along the side or down the center?

I've gotten my x-c skis and 2 dogs in the car. Just right.
